Thousands of residents are building makeshift dams to prepare for another wave of flooding in Central Asia and Russia that could arrive on April 20. With no help from the state, people in a village in the Russian region of Orenburg raised money to build their own 1.5-kilometer dam.

I'm very thankful for organizations and government groups that *actually* respond to calls for help, such as the calls of these people. I hope flood victims and these people's families are kept safe. Edit: For clarification I am referring to groups similar to FEMA, Russia doesn't necessarily have an analog I'm familiar with, but this makes me feel very grateful.
