As an actor, pretty much every performance Al Pacino gave in the 70s and 90s was like an acting masterclass for me. I learned so much from watching him. The intense focus in his eyes, his line delivery, whenever he would build up to an explosion. Hey Aria, I forgot to tell you in your "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" reaction to also check out "Midnight Run" with Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. It was made the year after "Planes" and follows pretty much the same premise, only with more action. Robert De Niro is a bounty hunter tasked with bringing Charles Grodin, who embezzled millions from a mob boss, from New York to LA. Many complications arise, forcing De Niro to take Grodin there through various means of transportation.

Great reaction to a classic movie 😊😊😊I recently saw a documentary on Serpico. The cop who rescued him after the shooting was told it was Serpico. He then said that if he knew that he would have left him to die......human compassion

Great reaction to this 70s classic, not many on KZbin. 'Scent of a Woman' is really excellent - dramatic, funny, touching, sad, rousing, etc. 12:00 That bald cop giving Serpico a hard time was probably thinking "Slacker!".

Even in the 2010's Serpico still received lots of hate mail from the former cops he exposed and also from modern day cops too. He's now in his 80's but still gives lectures on today's police corruption, but he seems like a very nice guy in his more recent interviews. He also delivers speeches to new police recruits all over the USA about such situations as well.
@alonzocoyethea614811 ай бұрын
Many Police critiqued this film roughly, felt it perpetrated a bad image. But in reality the Mafia had some cops on the take, others were just plain dirty. Serpico had good intentions, but his efforts were kinda wasted..Late 80's there was another big NYPD corruption scandal resulting in suspensions/arrests for all involved. Even with 95% good cops there, the 5 % bad ones can still do a lot of bad stuff. I'm unsure if those guys set him up that day, but it sure looked like it to me. I would've resigned a lot sooner and just took a job as a small-town cop somewhere!

The Blue Mafia. The Blue Hand. I was a cop for 42 years, 10 years as a Detective. I worked in a small city, so I didn't see corruption like this. I saw moral corruption but not graft. The larger the city, the more power the cops have, thus, the more reason for the graft. I always hated it. Still do.

36:42 Not in this country. Police officers get fired all the time for major problems. Then just go to a different precinct, get hired, and start over. It wouldn't be hard for Serpico to transfer to Albany and have zero problems.

Hi Aria, you absolutely do REALLY need to see Al Pacino in "Heat" in the most epic heist movie of all time. A young Natalie Portman co-stars along with Val Kilmer, and a host of other Hollywood stars. Another Sidney Lumet masterpiece with Paul Newman is "The Verdict." You will be glued to the screen due to the amazing performances and gripping drama.

Sadly, police corruption will never go away... those are just the facts. I got into law enforcement in 1985... I remember our graduating class being told... "whatever you do remember, CYA... cover your ass!" Almost immediately I saw it withing the department I was assigned to.... straight from the top (administrative side). After 14 yrs on the job I had enough and left. And I have never looked back since!

I'm in the minority when it comes to this movie. It's good, but I don't like it as much, and I don't know why. To compare, I think Dog Day Afternoon is a better movie than Serpico. That being said, I liked your reaction to this Aria. You were into it from the start. I am really looking forward to you reacting to "Heat". Al Pacino & Robert DeNiro are superb in that movie. One of my all-time favorites. I also recommend "The Insider" with Al Pacino & Russell Crowe. As for director Sidney Lumet, I have to suggest that you watch "12 Angry Men". Fantastic movie. It's so sweet watching you adore young Al Pacino. I wish I had more younger Pacino movies to recommend for you. Love the new hairstyle, Aria. You look absolutely marvelous. See you at the movies!
