At age 73, I now only pocket carry. Health issues has a lot to do with my carry style. My LCP Max is very easy to carry inside a Sticky Pocket Holster. YES! NEVER carry anything else in the pocket that you carry your firearm in.

I’ve been pocket carrying the same pistol for many years. Went from a j frame revolver to this because it has two more rounds. I’m not one to tell others how they should carry, but I’ve been carrying for fifty years. This pistol has the same effect as a double action revolver, with a repeat hammer strike if needed. So the trigger is long and stiff. Only safety needed in this configuration. I concur that a pocket holster is indeed the way to go simply to position the weapon appropriately. However, I never use the safety because it really isn’t needed and is extremely stiff as far as sweeping off and on. As I said on the first sentence, I’ve been carrying this for many years. I believe about seven, and it has never and I do mean never accidentally been swept into the safe mode. However due to my having carried a 1911 for around thirty years, I still sweep like there is a safety when pulling my weapons, even ones without a safety on them. Be safe, be true to the constitution and remember “Jesus is Lord.”

I had an LCP ii, then an LCP Max and now have the BG2.0. Used the included pocket holster, then a Sticky Holster and then a Vedder holster for the LCP. Now using a Muddy River Tactical pocket holster. The claw works good so far making it "deholster" as I draw. Federal HSTs line to hang up half the time so I run ball ammo for now. Testing with ARX ammo as well. Main reason for me to carry it is for when I'm in an unconstitutional location. Main carry is a Shield Plus or M&P Compact.

Very good advice! My primary carry IWB pistol has a manual safety. I just like it that way because I typically carry offset appendix (11 O'Clock) with a round in the chamber. I do use a leather holster, because it's simply the most comfortable for me every day. With all these factors together, I feel a lot better about drawing and holstering a loaded pistol if it has a manual safety engaged. Though I try to be very careful with my draw and holster stroke, it's just nice to give my femoral artery and reproductive organs that extra peace of mind. I have practiced drawing with a manual safety to the point that I find myself sweeping my thumb down on my pistols that don't even have one. I do also own a few pocket pistols that I often carry around the house or in more restrictive clothing. Two of the pistols have safeties, and one doesn't, but my thumb sweep always applies regardless. Like you said, I make sure to always use a holster with nothing else in the pocket.

I pocket carry on a regular basis, most times as a back up but also as a primary. It definitely serves a purpose. If I have to take my dog out in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning an LCP or Bodyguard is better than not carrying. Same thing when its insanely hot during the summer. Pocket pistols definitely serve a purpose and I think anyone who is serious about carrying should have at least one in their collection.

People can look down on pocket carry all they want. It’s the most comfortable and practical way to carry I’ve found after carrying for a long time. I can pocket carry my S&W 442 or my Kahr PM9 everywhere with anything I wear while all the guys that naysay it have trouble dressing around their bigger and heavier firearms or just don’t carry at all on certain days because it’s too inconvenient.

Ruger LCP in 22 loaded with Stingers. I have all calibers and sizes. Some times I even step it up with a S&W 351 in 22 mag. What’s good about pocket guns is comfort. You will carry it most of the time because of this. Just make sure you are familiar with it. They will do the job and are better than a sharp stick. I have carried for more than 45 years and for years a hand gun safety instructor and also have worked part time in a gun shop.

I totally agree with the message of this video. Personally, I prefer a hammer fired, DA/SA trigger, which is a nice compromise of no manual safety and having an extra layer of safety. DA/SA allows you to be in a ready state with a round in the chamber ( aka condition one) like a striker fired gun with no manual safety, yet the heavy first trigger pull drastically reduces your chances of having a negligent discharge. Additionally, you can ride the hammer with your thumb when reholstering, so you can actually feel when something gets caught in the trigger before it goes bang. As well as another bonus of the ability to restrike if you have a bad round, or hard primer.

Everything on it is (kinda) a little better, obviously the higher mags, trigger, and sights. But honestly I just liked the gen 1 better. I got use to the trigger, and the sights really didn’t matter for the distance you would use it. However the gen 1 is flatter and much easier (comfortable) to conceal, especially in a wallet holster which is how I carry it. Again great video, good stuff, love the blunt to the point touch!

Great video to make your case. Though not exactly pocket rockets, I’ve observed that the Shield EZ are actually the worst commonly carried pistols for people who don’t train, especially newbs. And it’s not the manual safety as much as the grip safety being the problem. The owners don’t understand a consistent proper grip, and when the gun will not fire, they immediate shift grip to mess with the thumb safety. My 365 has a thumb safety, but it is much easier to manipulate. I bought the model with the TS because it is occasionally carried in a pocket, with a proper pocket holster, of course. I’ve heard of the careless carrying G17s in overcoat pockets along with keys, and being surprised with a discharge in a restaurant when the overcoat is draped over the back of the chair and the keys get caught against the trigger. Then there are those who have to play with the gun inside the pocket and end up pressing too far. They, and their social media followers blame it on the design of the gun having no manual safety.

Pocket carry allows you to unholster the gun to the point of no retention while still in your pocket, and get a full purchase before anyone even knows you have a gun to begin with. This is the main advantage to pocket carry IMHO. The most dangerous places daily are transitions from your home to your car, and from your car parking spot, to wherever. Pocket carry allows you to walk around with your pistol ready to rock and roll. Meanwhile, to the overwhelming majority of people, especially normies, and NPCs, it just looks like you’re walking around with your hands in your pocket. For example, I never relax around a certain demo, and try to avoid them at all costs while keeping my head on a swivel. When I absolutely can’t, you can guarantee I’m going to get distance and hopefully objects between us while I also get a good purchase on my weapon in case they try to culturally enrich me. I forgot to add that another pro to pocket carry is depending on the size of the pocket and your ability, you can shoot right through the pocket if necessary. A hoodie pocket is a perfect example where almost anyone can shoot through it.

@@TerriblyTactical One thing you could elaborate on is your definition of a “pocket pistol.” There is no industry standard for size categories of hand guns (unlike mattresses and a lot of other things.). Some gun manufacturers use the term “micro pistol” for guns that will not fit in a pocket. My view is that guns should be categorized by unloaded weight and that a pocket pistol should have an unloaded weight less than 16 ounces. My recommended hand gun categories: -Full size: greater than 24 ounces. -Compact: 20-24 ounces -Sub-compact: 16-20 ounces -Micro-compact: less than 16 ounces.

Good video, I can't think of a single point you made that I disagree with. I'm not new to guns, but for most of my life my application was first and foremost dispatching varmints and small game hunting. I'm relatively new to concealed carry. It took a stolen election by a political party that wants a disarmed population to get me to the point of carrying. And adding to my arsenal. And stockpiling ammo. And..."that's all I've got to say about that." I've tried different pistols in different carry positions in different holsters, and I found that I am by far most comfortable with pocket carry. My main EDC now is a Taurus GX4. I like that it's 9mm. Yeah, it's small; I can't get a full 3 fingers grip. So it's a bit snappy, but certainly manageable. On the plus side, it's 11+1 plus a spare 11-rd mag of 9mm. So, God forbid I should ever have to use it against multiple attackers, I'm walking around with 23 rounds on tap. And it rides daily in a DeSantis Nemesis holster, inside my canvass utility pants. And nothing else goes in that pocket, not even a knife clipped to it. My pants have side pockets on the right leg. One I use for the spare mag, the other for a clip-on pocket knife.
