A quick look at ZapMap shows that Wales in not so badly served by chargers. I'd have no trouble getting anywhere I want in Wales with my lowly 24kwh Leaf that has less than 80% State Of Health.

Excellent show Robert! We hired a Tesla Model Y for a two day road trip out of Wellington NZ, just to see what it's like. I had it driving safely on autopilot on the motorway, highways, country roads and city streets no problem, and it was amazingly good and relaxing (mostly!), and the car and ride was unbelievable. No wonder its the best selling car in the world!

The concrete chemistry sounds feasible. The only drawback is it works only on prefab/blocks. It won't work with slabs, or normal house building concrete. It's a big step forward though.

An app “Need to Charge” has a messaging system for those who sign up based on vehicle registration so no giving out your telephone number to the general public and no advertised return time. Of course with all systems a determined miscreant could use it with perverse intent. But I’m keen for it to be successful. A rare local popular charger is often in use with no indication of when it might be free. This messaging system could help with that.

@@Hill_Walker If you are leaving the car, rather than watching for the point where you want to stop charging, then wouldn't you set the desired charge end point? Regardless it is irrelevant to this discussion because the car (Tesla's anyway) tell you how long it will be to reach your desired charge so that could be displayed in large font on the screen the way that Dog Mode is displayed to let concerned dog lovers know that the car is maintaining a comfortable temp while the dog or dogs are left alone inside on a hot day.

There is an App “Need To Charge Charge” which allows to those who sign up a messaging system. I guess the idea is if a queue has developed and a car is at over 80% State of Charge you can message the owner with your need to charge. I hope it catches on.

I recently did a trip around rural north Wales and had absolutely no problems getting charge. I did over 600 miles over three days and managed too charge the car quickly and with no queues each day while I had a beer or lunch. Nice to hear there'll be more soon though

I do wonder about the state of journalism in the UK, because it basically doesn't exist (outside of Private Eye). What happens to people who want to become _actual_ journalists - do they become corrupted, swayed by cash into just repeating whatever press release they're given? Are the honest ones weeded out from the very start and never given a job? Or does journalism just naturally attract deeply dishonest rent-a-quotes who never had any interest beyond their own bank balance?

I'm sure others will have corrected you, but a battery plant is being built in Washington near Sunderland, Britishvolt was going to build a plant near Blyth in Northumberland. I know the North can be a bit of a mystery to some.
