I loved how you guys were so open minded & non-judgmental, compared to a lot of western visitors, in your approach. I think the mistake a lot of visitors make is they view India through their western lenses & hence not able to quite enjoy the country. You guys were complete opposite, so were able to take all in & appreciate for what it is rather than thinking how things should have been or done. Loved your journey, thanks from India for showing the country in good light.

The colonial powers came to India, saw this older and grander civilization, could barely understand it, and tried to make changes, to put it euphemistically. India took their inputs but thankfully retained most of her cultural characteristics. Thus, after 400 years, there still remains this welcoming, culturally diverse land for all of us to visit and enjoy.

India is an incredible country, and I am proud to have been born and raised there. I started riding motorcycles at the age of 14, and it quickly became a passion of mine. When I moved to the UK 10 years ago, I resumed riding just six months after obtaining my motorcycle license. However, riding in the UK felt very different-almost monotonous compared to the vibrant and unpredictable experience back home. For most of my life, I dreamed of owning powerful motorcycles, believing they were the ultimate source of excitement and freedom. Over the years, I’ve owned a few powerful bikes, and while they were thrilling, I’ve come to realize that the true joy of riding isn’t necessarily in speed or power. Instead, it’s in the simple pleasure of a slow, relaxed ride with friends. Powerful bikes come with their own risks and responsibilities, and in the UK, the necessity of riding with full gear further adds to the effort. As for cows, I understand why tourists from abroad are often amazed to see them roaming freely on Indian roads. In countries like the UK, animals don’t have that kind of liberty-most are confined to farms or specific enclosures. It’s a stark contrast to India, where animals like cows coexist freely with people, embodying a sense of shared space and community. In a way, this difference reflects the broader cultural contrast: in some places, even humans seem to lack the same sense of freedom that animals enjoy in India.

If you're planning to return to India, I'd suggest you to explore either Forests (sanctuaries, parks), Mountain Chains (Western/Eastern Ghats, Himalaya, Lesser Himalayas) or the coastlines. All there are extremely popular routes - for eg you can start in Himachal Pradesh and ride to Ladakh - the ultimate Himalayan adventure, or ride along the absolutely heavenly coastal roads of Kerala/Tamilnadu in the south. If you stick to the geographical routes you'll have the best times of your life. There's hardly any place in India that is not accessible on bikes.

Firstly, how wonderful for a father and son to enjoy common interests and the spirit of travel together. Memories are the spice of life and you have that in abundance. India! Great to see you fall into the parallel universe and world of India and respond so positively to the kaleidoscope of changing scenery and people of India. I reflect fondly of my time as an expat working and living in the country and your gasps and curiosity pinged my many memories. You get it!! The happy kids that rarely cry, given their relative poverty compared to western children living in a world of abundance ( who never cease to cry), is a complete contrast. Well done. That thunderbird x is what meteor used to be. They couldn't launch that model internationally because of the clash with triumph for that name obviously. The old thunderbird 350s were sweet. 2016 model and older had such a sweet grunty exhaust note when you cruise around that 60 to 80 kmph speed. This was long before Royal Enfield had to tame their exhaust notes trying to meet the norms. All the later models from there didn't sound quite the same. The thump and loudness kept getting lesser and lesser from there on.
