You mean the front door locking? It's chilling in retrospect, because when he said only the back door was open, Angie said "That doesn't usually happen." But she was referring to the front door being jammed. I wouldn't call it a red herring, per say, because it ended up acting as plot armour in the long term, plus Angie tried using it to prove there was a conspiracy. Not sure what else you could be talking about. The first guy that showed up? Or the food rotting inside the place? I think it's all supposed to be connected to the plot to lure him outside.

I love love loved this story! I’m blown away, the fact that it was so suspenseful but at no point was I internally screaming at the narrator to “stop being so dumb” like you normally have to at some of the stories. It is beyond impressive for these new creepy pastas, this author was a wonderful story teller! It’s so rare to find a smart protagonist, heck it’s rare to find one that isn’t actively an idiot, and being along for the “ride” of him piecing it together and picking up on small details, all the while going back and forth with trusting/doubting the antagonist, it was worlds better than a lot of the more elaborate stories where the whole thing depends on the main character being an absolute moron! This was so great! Genuinely I’m so glad I clicked this one

It feels like a cop out, like the author can't find a more creative way to explain what's happening so they keep falling back on their first story's plot (which I admittedly don't like) and won't expand the supernatural aspect of this universe to have other things at play other than blue sunflowers. And besides, who keeps flowers at a gas station?
