Its not "better", you just mean its a different artstyle. They tried to make it realistic thats the point. If u want smth fully 3D animated like the update trailers, they are going to make a netflix show aswell, that most likely will have an artstyle similar to that instead. Movies are specticles, and live action is the best way for ppl to go WOW. They cannot do that with regular 3D animation, cuz they cant pull a spiderverse cuz that movie relied on its comic style, low fps, and stylization. And minecraft isnt known for that so it doesnt have the creative freedom for that.

The only thing sonic movie had was bad adpated sonic model... The Minecraft movie doesn't have that problem, because they already are accurately depicted in a live action version. Only thing I see is crooked teeth, but it doesnt even look ad bad as sonic? Like, they aren't humanoid characters like sonic who look weird with detailed teeth. They are based on real animals, which in real life still look cute and are beloved by both adults and children, despite them having crooked teeth. Look at real goats, horses or cows. The point is Movies are supposed to be specticles, and with a game like Minecraft you will only be doing that with a live action hollywood quality animation that no one has seen before. @@JuhoSprite my issue is, whiles sonic can work in life action, cause story wise, sonic does at times interact with humans and modern cities and such. And sonic already has different depictions in Animation. Minecraft in the other hand is one of those games that real life logic does not apply, it’s a world of only Blocks and Pixels and wacky physics and Logic. It basically became a core part of its identity. It’s just something that doesn’t work with life action to begin with compared to other games.

@@entityglitch8429 well assuming it looked like the actual game if it was animated, I'd honestly think I'd still prefer the live-action versions art-style because it's doing something new, instead of looking like every other minecraft game. perhaps if they did something gimmicky with the artstyle to make it stand out, e.g. animate the movie using 2d pixel art, then maybe, but they probably would've gone the safe route and have the movie look like the game. and i'm sure if they did that style, it would still come stand out compared to other movies thanks to minecraft's distinct artstyle, but so does the style they're going with right now. and yes, i have watched animated films and cartoons. for petes sake my favorite movie of all time is the peanuts movie (2015)

To be fair, the Minecraft movie has been in development since 2014. This was before Detective Pikachu, before Sonic and before Mario. This means live action was long planned for this movie and the movie didn't have Mario as an animated success for a video game movie. And for that, it doesn't look that bad 😅 My opinion, I think it can be good, because in the end it's up to the implementation in live action. This is only a teaser so far and a real trailer is still coming, where we can get a better look.

I think some of the mob designs look good. Some could have been better. I can see why some people would have preferred Animated. I just have two gripes, one is a crafting scene, there has never been one recipe for a double bucket with a chain attached to them. I honestly think this is going to be one of those movies made for the whole family and because of that they decided to not take the Minecraft lore very seriously. I would like to know more about the game lore while watching the movie, but it looks like that's not going to be the case. With that said, I think we should wait until the release so that we can see if it is worth criticising or not. I wish the visuals would match a bit better with the actors though, but oh well...

The 2013 kickstarter project "a birth of a man" concept of minecraft movie was way more interesting and WAY better looking than this monstrosity we received which probably is just a jumanji 2/3 format but in minecraft.

I mean I don't hate it, it's probably kinda hard to make a movie about literally the world's most popular game ever and not have some people who don't like it, a lot of people don't think about how hard it must be to make a movie about Minecraft, of all game. The reason why it's CGI is because animation costs way more money than CGI nowadays, so they probably wanted to take the non-animated approach either because of that, or they just thought that's what the art direction should be, who tf knows.

They should’ve gotten an actor that’s jacked asf to play Steve because Steve is strong asf😭
