i left minneapolis 8 years ago. the class division in that city is insane. uptown is filled with huge monstrous loft apartment buildings where the cheapest unit is 1500 a month.

Walk through and get mugged. Bad advice. Sheesh. I had an elderly friend end up in the hospital with brain damage after he was attacked by residents in a tent city in St. Paul behind their home. They had to sell and move. This isn’t an affordable housing issue. 🤦🏼‍♀️ this is an addiction issue and all the crime, filth, and violence that goes along with it. Big pharma and the opioid scandal bears a large responsibility.

The shelters are dirty and disgusting? Some of them maybe, but these people are living on the streets. Do you know how cold it is in Minneapolis? Freezing is probably a high there. OMG!

I'm so glad you guys have brought out this issue and thank you for listing some things that they really do need because the rest of us who aren't brave enough to go out there and really experience it or see for ourselves hurt in our hearts, crying our rooms, and wonder what we can do. So thanks for the suggestions it does make a difference.

Sure..Move to Mpls. We like to stack 'em up and then round 'em up. Mpls should move them ALL to the Lk. Harriet band shell. Lots of room and a roof.

Do you know why they don’t want to go to shelter? Because they don’t want people to control them. And tell them what to do

No- it's b/c a shelter isn't going to let you maintain your drug habit. Lived in them for years and you haven't.

Before ya know it were gonna be just like SF n Portland. The weather detours alot of em but when I hear these ppl talking about "helping" these poor ppl they mean throw slot of $$$$$$ at the problem because it makes them feel better? Just watch the homeless population skyrocket from these career homeless who go state to state like a fkn oilfield worker following the $$$$ these ppl do the same.

KJK It's not that simple. There's a level of misery and filth in a crowded shelter that is way beyond the color.of someone's skin...add in mental illness... .

@@nnj6918 I beg to disagree. 😏 When some cities began putting homeless ppl in hotels/motels, to stave off Corona, those same homeless ppl saying they preferred living under over-passes hurriedly accepted.

True. The shelters are 95% black and these are nice, wholesome, black people- they are the N-word, hard R, pliural types. (

2019, still a huge problem and worse! It’s all over Minnesota! It makes me extremely angry! My sister was found wandering in the streets of a Northern town during the winter, got put in a shelter, then in the hospital and died 1 week later! Minnesota doesn’t care! These donation places and boxes for clothing, etc., never make it to the people who need it most and are suppose to be helped by them! The money donated, lines other people’s pockets, the clothing and goods, get resold by private people collecting out of those boxes, to line their pockets! It’s all scams in Minnesota and for those of us who really want to help, we get stopped by DHS and/or Law Enforcement! I have a huge issue with our system not helping the homeless and forbidding others to help! If you give some of the money to the town or city and county you live in, then they will think about allowing you to help, but then months later and many phone calls later, you will get a big fat NO! Cuz it’s just not worthy enough!

Sounds like maybe you're the one not caring since you let her run around homeless in the first place.

Deciding to be homeless does not give people any right to decide to intrude and plop down just anyplace and become squatters. If people choose not to work, and earn a living to take care of their own basic needs, that is their right, but it should not be the responsibility of taxpayers to take on that burden.

If the US can not take care the homeless and it getting increase, it will affects lots of the US economics and security. Homeless is not the right solutions for any country to benefits, but will getting more and more worst to the whole country. It's easy to solved these issues if the government seriously want to taking care of it. Find a better and safer places for them, find jobs for them, these will benefits a lot for both of them and the country.
