People of the North E5: The Beautiful West

Nothing is like the west coast of Norway. In this episode Arne, Frida and Stig experience what the region can offer when it comes to both hospitality and food. Frida meets up with a local chef in Ålesund and he prepares a beautiful fish dish in the middle of town. Arne and Stig visit an interesting couple where they get a complete tasting menu packed with all the region’s traditional delicacies.
Your voyage starts in Bergen, the gateway to the Norwegian fjords and the start of your northbound coastal adventure. We sail into the Beautiful West (passing the Havila Voyages headquarters right off Torvik), and into Ålesund, a city renowned for its art nouveau architecture of beautiful brick houses and warehouses. In the summer, we take you on a special voyage to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Geirangerfjord, which has steep mountainsides and dramatic waterfalls.
