A steel screw driver on the fuel tank retaining ring can spark. For safety sake it is best to use a brass punch. Brass won't spark.

good time to upgrade the steering while the gear box is out kits are 1000.$

It’s a budget build so I’m sticking with stock steering for now but may opt for rack and pinion in the future

Don't mess with those tie rod ends, they are only $10 to $15 dollars each. The ones you have are probably quite worn and the grease inside them is probably bad too, they also do not have grease fittings so you cannot add new grease to them. Rubber dust boots are not easy to find and the polyurethane ones that are available don't fit well are like $5 a pair. I don't believe the tie rod ends had any paint on them, they were just installed raw and would be rusty by the time you bought the car, same for the steering box and the pitman arm. You can just clear coat them, or use Cast Blast spray paint.

I had multiple sets of tie rods and chose the best ends. I know they aren't serviceable and aren't meant to be. The ones i chose are tight and I stuffed as much grease into them as I could. They are finished, but will be in a future video
