you can press "F" to activate things easier. You can also make them hold objects like guns with "F" as well. you need to put their hands out, place the gun next to the hand (its easier to do this by pressing space and pausing time) and press "F" on the hand. it will attack it to their hands

Additionally, pressing the a or d key while holding stuff makes it not spin freely anymore. Also syringes only work if you stop them with the sharp end.
