Other ppl have probably pointed this out, but Scrawrbox has provided you with the wrong products probably. The marker you got is water based, which won't work on oil based pencils. Artists who use colored pencils a lot often use solvents such as paint thinner to blend their pencils oil or wax based pencils. You weren't doing anything wrong, you just weren't provided with the right supplies! Still, thanks for the video! :)

Yeah I've been using nothing but colored pencils lately including the whole derwent line and and literally that koi brush pen does nothing but maybe smudge around some loose pigment. Like it might have worked on their pastel pencils maybe? Havent tried them yet. But for the lightfast pencils try picking up some odorless mineral spirits or if you cant stand the smell try ordering a cheap colorless alcohol marker blender to blend them. DO NOT use your copic blender because the pencil pigment and binder stick to the nibs and you have to scribble to clean them and it destroys them way quicker than using them with markers.

I actually use the finesse colored pencil blender and that works decently well.

Watersoluble blender and oil or wax based pencils don't mix. You didn't do anything wrong. Scrawlrbox got this mixed up somehow. Most water soluble marker are peeling the paper easily. The blender is simply no exception.

I've seen multiple people complain about the koi marker. The pencils are oil based. while the koi pen is water based. HOWEVER, an alcohol colorless blender works fantasic with oil based pencils! I'm sure you have one ^_^

Just a warning about that, since the pigment and binder stick to the nibs you have to clean them off frequently and it will destroy them way quicker than normal use with markers. I have like 6 cheap ass ones I use just for pencils and I dont ever use my copic blender with them. Learned my lesson the hard way by destroying both nibs within 3 weeks. Granted I was literally using it every day a ton but still it's way harder on them. I actually use the daler rowney low odor stuff that my local walmart sells and these fantasticks things I got at Michael's that sort of do the same thing as tortillions but have a sponge like applicator and I think it works pretty well.

Lol why in the world would they include a water based blender with oil based pencils? Seems like an oversight! Also, I use paper cut outs to fix permanent mistakes too lol. I think it can add something to the piece. I’ll use a thick or colored paper and try to turn the corrected mistakes into a feature of the piece:)

Incompatible art supplies or a real bummer! Definitely not your fault. I might have used one of my posca pens, white of course, to paint out the face and draw another one on top instead of the pasting from a different piece of paper which of course will come off. This of course negates the scrawlrbox challenge which of course you do much better than anyone else!
