People Smuggling in Sicily: Europe or Die

In June the European Union (EU) responded to the huge numbers of migrants and refugees dying on its borders by launching an 11.8 million euro ($12.8m) a year naval mission. EUNAVFOR Med was launched to tackle human trafficking from North Africa, a major contributor to the migration crisis that has claimed 2,000 lives in the Mediterranean in 2015 alone.
But while the EU has declared war on traffickers in Libya and elsewhere, another trade is booming on its doorstep. Land smuggling preys on desperate people hoping to escape the EU’s Dublin Regulation - whereby migrants seeking refuge are required to do so in the first country that they set foot in - and illegally cross European borders.
VICE News travels to Sicily, one of the main stepping stones into Europe, to follow a police operation to arrest suspected smugglers at a boat landing, and meets a former member of a people trafficking network operating between Libya, Egypt, and Italy. We also find out about the land smuggling business of taking people from Sicily to northern Europe, and meet a small group of activists helping newly-arrived migrants and refugees avoid being exploited.

HaligonianType1 SS Africans everywhere in the world have been proven over and over in psychological tests to have a high "time preference", which basically means they are more impulsive and tend not to think about long-term consequences of their actions like Europeans and Asians (they also have smaller frontal lobes- the part of the brain that evaluates consequence of a given action). That goes a long way to explain why littering is much more prevalent in majority-black areas, and why proper sanitation infrastructure is much rarer in majority black countries than in majority European or Asian ones. I have no problem whatsoever with refugees fleeing horrors and famine coming to Europe. However, there are several issues. Firstly, the arrival of so many people lowers the wages of all workers as these immigrants are willing to work for next to nothing so why would a company hire a European who expects atleast minimum wage. Karl Marx discussed this in his theory of surplus labour. Next, there is a cultural clash between the European values and the people who bring there own values to Europe and expect that Europeans should accommodate their beliefs. It's important that the EU does what it can to combat these negative effects of huge immigration.

Scandal - i left the UK a few days ago. In France i destroyed my passport, and later today I will get into a small boat to leave for the UK. I have changed my name to Omar X.
