It's always been that NA and EU (though primarily EU) desperation to tear him down and proclaim some random white kid as the real best midlaner in the World. And considering the lack of success the West has had until very recently (after Riot's spent 5+ years sabotaging the Korean scene and trying to tilt the odds in the West's favor), NA and EU is still beneath Faker.

Faker actually got benched in his early seasons of pro play because he wasn't performing well on azir when he was meta then faker grinded 12 hours a day to get where he is dont take that away from him. He wasnt born with a gift he worked for it. if you look at his match history he plays more than any other pro. but he is naturally good

I mean Faker is super good. But what about Dopa and Crown? Consurning mid-lane as well and their lane strength, mechanics and game knowledge.

With Dopa, he doesn't have the competitive experience and since the meta now is much more team reliant than it was before and the fact that faker shotcalls means faker is technically still the best. In regards to your question, Faker probably has better lane strength and game knowledge whereas he might be tied with dopa in terms of mechanics. Crown? Well faker equals or is better than crown at probably everything.

Lol the biggest strength of faker is his champion pool.. Yeah dopa/crown might sometimes play mechanically equal to faker, But to have a mid laner who can play almost any champ in a competitive scene is a huge advantage

Yeah, Doublelift's "I'm a robot created to play midlaner perfectly" applies best to Chovy, but was never true of Faker even at his peak. If anything, Faker has simply been the single best player, simply by his insane mental and consistency, tournament results and considerable number of memorable plays. I don't think this has changed since 2013, since almost a decade later, he remains completely peerless when it comes to the combination of individual skill, versatility, and intangibles.

This was Faker two years ago, players have gotten so much better. Don't get me wrong, Faker is still good, but compared to other mid laners (BDD, Crown) he's not as much of a driving force anymore, and his team is always there to back him up.

The argument of "Fakers team is always there to back him up" was more true in the days of PoohManDu and Bengi but most of the time SKT gets themselves in a bad spot, and Fakers team backs him up while hes saving their asses (especially in worlds2017). Maybe u can rank Crown as remotely close to Faker, but BDD? Lmfao no where near.

Too bad he has fallen off the last 2 years, he is not at all the best midlaner anymore, at all. he considtently loses lane, does bad plays in teamfights and makes terrible macro plays, he is good, but not at all the best anymore.

Its not as easy to win lane hard if your team plays and drafts for late game, also with the meta being more control mages it takes his play making out of the equation. Then everyone wants to kill and has to kill faker so they pretty much camp him every game. Another point is that in reaction to everyone knowing skt is even harder to beat in the late game they draft early game to win before skt gets online, another thing which reduces is ability to win lane and even more he took over the shot calling. With all this in mind, its still amazing that he stays even or slightly wins lane. He might make more mistakes, I dont know, but in regards to the reasons above he is still amongst the top 5 players in the game. Also noone wants to doubt his ability to play teamfights.
