Uhm... please don't attack but quite often psychopaths is often confused with sociopathy. Sociopath's have emotions but it's to an extreme, like anger or rage. But psychopaths don't have emotions and are manipulators for their own benefits, I think that's the more correct term to use this story.

I can completely relate to this. My boyfriend and I had been dating for about a month and his ex girlfriend came up to me and told me that he cheated on me and that he’s been texting her and she showed me text messages (I later found out were fake) I have experience with cheaters and it is not fun at all. I stopped talking to him and we had basically broken up, although he is not the type of guy to cheat at all. He is the kindest guy I know. Instead of permanently shutting him out I decided to confront him. I’m so thankful that I did. The look of pure shock on his face is something I will never forget, he was speechless, and he denied it all. I didn’t know wether or not to believe him. So I decided to take a step back and think more on it. His ex girlfriend is very very petty and she was mean to me even before I started dating him. I found out that the texts she showed me were faked and that he doesn’t even have the app that the messages were on. He apologized to me countless times and promised me he didn’t cheat. I believed him and 7 months later we are still dating and I’ve never been happier. Sorry for the long comment lol watch out for liars!!

How in the world could her boyfriend believe her brother's word over hers? If that's the case then he never really loved her at all. I've actually had this happen to me in the past too. I was in 6th grade and I was going out with this girl who I really did love at the time and my friends decided to play a very cruel prank on her and tell my girl that I was cheating on her and just completely dogging her out. My friends they all lived in her neighborhood on the west side so they had full access, but I lived on the North side and cellphones weren't even a thing back then. The year was 1998 and I was just 13 years old. So the next day she just broke up with me out of nowhere and didn't talk to me anymore. When my friends finally told her that it was a prank and that I never did anything like that she come running back to me trying to act like nothing ever happened. I easily saw what type of person she was.

Cheaters lie and deny. The boyfriend believed the brother because obviously a cheater wouldn't confess to cheating, so in this case believing your significant other isn't really a smart option. OP even said that her brother is a master manipulator, the boyfriend is also a victim, this too was his relationship ruined by a lie, and thinks that his ex cheated on him. If he ever found out the truth, I can imagine the guilt he would feel for not believing his gf. Sorry about your experience tho, the girl should have definitely talked to you after she found out it's a lie, and atleast apologized.

personally, i disagree with the "never really loved her at all" thing. I mean, by the sounds of it, the brother was very good at manipulating, and his story was very real-seeming and believable. Not to mention, the brother catching the sister cheating is actually something that you might tell the partner as a respectful thing to do. Plus, even if you believed your partner, it'd always be in the back of your mind, and you'd never get over it. Being in a relationship where you don't trust your partner isn't usually a good one, and you don't have to stay in it.

You’d think the first poster would bargain-I’ll tell your girlfriend if you tell my ex-boyfriend. I also get the boyfriend’s doubts, BUT I don’t see how it’s possible to have a lasting relationship with someone who doubts your integrity. If it were me I might have gotten a recording of a conversation with the brother where, whether he admits lying or not, it is fairly clear he DID lie (when she begged him to confess and he laughed at her, that’s pretty telling), and I’d give it to the boyfriend-right before I kicked him to the curb. It might hurt at the time, but better to end that distrustful relationship.

In 12th grade (2 years ago, weeks before COVID began and about 4 months before my HS graduation) I had a US government and economics teacher. I can see why people would be furious if this happened to them, but I can't imagine ever doing something like that. My thought process is that revenge takes time and energy for nothing. You may feel a momentary satisfaction but should regret it in the end. I would always advise forgiveness, and if that seems too hard, then leave them be and get over it. Gonna have to disagree. Many people have proved to me that revenge CAN be good. Or else, whoever made you suffer will just have a good life otherwise, and not even feel bad for what they did to you. There was a town with a guy named Rex. He was a horrible person who threatened people with death and had an underage "girlfriend". For so long he tormented the entire town, and he always got out of jail time immediately, and continue threatening lives. The town got sick of it, and made an entire mob and killed him, no one was arrested for it and they saved his underage prisoner (she didn't have a choice to be with him, he threatened her family to let him have her, disgusting.) This is why, I don't look down on revenge. Because of revenge he no longer was able to torment people. I believe in revenge when the time is right and the crimes they committed against you were fair in comparison. With the cheating revenge, she got back at him the exact same way, it's complete fairness. If an abuser can dish it out, they can f*cking take it back.

I'm not saying that criminals shouldn't have consequences for what they do, I'm saying that letting revenge cloud your heart with hate is not a good thing. Of course those who commit crimes should have consequences. If a child is molested, the molester should go to prison for it. However if the child does not stop thinking about it, they will be bitter for the rest of their life and miss the joy that can be found in the world. Forgiveness is never easy. It may take years, but in the end I believe that you are better for it. (Sorry this was long).
