To the girl who left her home, I think she did the right thing. I hope she finds a great apartment and a safe space even away from that friend who victim blames her for the abuse that she gets from her family. The woman in the heels had every right to take her shoes off. And I think she should call off the engagement because that family is toxic.

That lost story is a red flag honestly. And I'd question the relationship in it's entirety. Has there been other red flags that she'd just brushed of or ignored? Neither my partner or his mom have ever or would ever force me to "suck it up".

It’s sad that she thinks the problem is that she embarrassed him and she should have sucked it up. The problem isn’t even that he lied. It’s that he forced her to wear heels because she’s short. For the second story, they aren't in the wrong at all. It's the parent's fault for being like that to her. They provoked her many times with that threat, so it shouldn't be a surprise that she left. Also, it's her choice if she wants to talk to her parents or not, the decision shouldn't involve or be in the hands of the parents or her friends that she is obligated to go and speak to them. Again, the parents threatened her with kicker her out / leaving her homeless multiple times, so why should she even come back to them if it's already a possibility they will use that threat repeatedly just to try to control her? It's good she left them as not only is she independent, but can prove that she won't take anyone's bs. And honestly, her sister should also move out and live with her once she is financially and mentally stable so that her sister hopefully doesn't end up taking up the parent's side completely.

1st Story: No uterus, no opinion. He was wrong when he told his wife that she should've consulted him before starting to use pads. It's her body, so she is the only one who has a say in what period product/products she uses. Her doctor told her that she can't use tampons. The husband needs to grow up and apologize to his wife. 2nd Story: The person shouldn't disclose their location to the friend they visited. The person explained things to the friend. The friend is on the side of the person's parents. I believe that the friend will/would back stab the person by telling the parents the person's location. The person made the right choice when they chose to leave home and cut off communication with their parents. 3rd Story: I agree with Kyutie that the guy is controlling. This woman needs to end the relationship with the guy. She also needs to cut ties with his family. He is toxic and so is his family. He lied about why he wanted her to wear the heels. He also told her that she should wear heels more often. He shouldn't have a problem with her height. A person's height doesn't matter. She had every right to take her heels off.

The guys upset over periods and heels really need to grow up and get a life. No man has any business or right trying to control a woman. Do we tell them what shaving cream, body wash or deodorant to use? Do we tell them what clothes to wear? No. So they have no right trying to tell us what toiletries we are "allowed" to use. Our bodies belong to US, not them.

Honestly felt relatable on the 2nd story. I'm a freelance artist, so most of the time I'm at home sitting on my chair but sometimes i do house chores too and help out the house but only at night because i only wake up at night. But my mom and stepbrother always told me how useless i am for not even helping out on the chores when in fact that's not true at all. I try my best to balance out work while doing house chores and earning money for them. But with the amount of verbal and physical abuse, i've become depressed and anxious. Like the story, they even threatened me that they would kick me out if im useless, stupid and i'd be homeless. Even if I'm not there in that house, they can't even tell the difference because they feel like they are a complete family even without me. It's suffocating, i can't breathe in that house. It even made me push into suicidal attempts. It felt like no matter what i do i will never be ENOUGH. I went mad and decided to use my savings that I'm supposed to give them and decided to move out with my girlfriend. Luckily, it was pandemic at that time, so I wont be able to see them even if they found out my address. For a year, they barely visited me (not even on my birthday) and they lied to my relatives that i was homeless and unemployed. They criticized how i live and why i spend cat food on my cats. .I went to therapy and slowly I'm recovering from my trauma. Recently they have been contacting me to ask for money. No " how are you?" "how have you been?" just directly asking money with a bunch of excuses. It made me realize how they see little value of me and that i've accepted that i have no parents anymore. And finally blocked them on social media and deleted their contacts. I won't lie, even if it's the best thing to cut them off i still miss them. But for the sake of my mental health, i've decided that this was for the best. --- (PS: I've tried so many times to talk to them how i felt and how I'm not mentally okay anymore. They would tell me they understood but behind my back they would laugh and say i was SENSITIVE. I was always on the topic of their family dinner as the laughing stock)

Stay no contact. You don't need toxic people. With time and effort you will become confident and strong. I had to cut my family off because it was taking too much from me, I am their bank and money tree. There is nothing more awful than feeling like you are nothing to these people but the money tree. There is no how are you doing, are you well, Or how are you kids doing....nothing like that. Just the Ann we need money for whatever reason.

2nd one: they should be the one to decide to tell their parents. And they decided. If the parents care so much to kick them out and repeatedly threaten to do it again then they have no business worrying. Their family situation sounds unsafe, so I'm glad that they are out of it. 3rd: If he has a problem with her height, then he should be the one to suck it up. Also if she has to wear heels to make himself feel better then maybe he should deal with that on his own. Not force it onto her. Also him being dishonest just to get her to wear them is not pretty. If he's gonna make such a big deal about her height, which has no bearing on a person or their relationship/status, then I don't think the marriage is gonna last long.

The second story I can relate too on a personal level. I've heard that threat so many times growing up. It was my parent's and older sibling's go-to threat phrase to get me to do ANYTHING for them. Never had any civilized conversation with any of them at all growing up. They were only interested in their own self and really didn't know how to communicate at all with me. My last day living in that house with my parents, same threat came out of my dad's mouth to just get me to do what he asked. Didn't care about my own mental, physical and emotional health. Just NEEDED me to do as he said and abused his authority for living in his home by threating to kick me out. After I finished the task on hand, packed up and left to go live with my now fiancé. I was an adult by then as well. They couldn't stop me. And I was glad the cops got involved too. For my own safety and my fiancé's. The last threat that came out of my dad's mouth was basically threatening to shoot me like a dog. Too bad the cop didn't understand our language. Really wanted to translate that for the cop. This is not a regret for me. It's a relief from the emotional and mental abuse. My siblings can make the excuse that "We only say that because we love you." No. That's not showing love. That's manipulating and threatening your own family to do things for your own gain. That's not how you communicate with ANYONE. They love to bring up the fact that I seem to disrespect or don't care for any gatherings they plan. There's a lot of problems with that too. They claim they informed me, yeah you're informing me like not even a week before the gathering. Or I was never informed yet they push hard that they DID send me a text. Say I somehow show up to the gathering, well now I'm in a dispute with one of them over something. Any conversation or topics just gets turned on me as if I'm the one who's in the wrong. It's suffocating. Hearing the same thing over and over. It's just better to interact less with toxic people who never have the intention to be there for you. They don't want to understand. They don't care. They make up their own little fantasy of your situation as if they understand and know how to read between the lines from just a few sentences. Yet they don't even actually interact with me on a day to day base or even live with me. Their entitled to be vocal about my life choices is absurd to the point I just laugh. Because I know my choices have saved me mentally and emotionally. And I know the truth about my relationship with my fiancé. That's all that really matters to me right now. I don't regret walking out of that house. Where I went after walking out, is none of their business. The person in that story, has every right to decide for her their own sake.

Agreed agreed agreed a thousand times over, I can kind of relate because my childhood is filled with crying in the bathroom because both my parents are the "tough love" type and don't really know how to show their care, now that I'm older I get that they care but when I was younger I suffered a lot to understand their personality and it made me hate them a lot, now even if I understand it's impossible for me to care for them, they did this to themselves, scaring a child at a young age leaves a permanent scar, but i too would just let it go if they showed even the slightest bit of remorse for treating me like that and hurting me but nooo they think they're not at all in the wrong and LAUGH at me for making a big deal out of something that happened years ago, it's always the most insensitive little things that hurt the most, so I learned to stop caring about them altogether, they supported me financially and I'll do the same for them, end of story

I was out of highschool and my mom had me in a 9pm curfew. Sometimes I was late due to traffic, work or due to weekend random traffic stops since a jail is near by. Usually I was early. One night after 9pm my mom Flipped out, threw a thin blanket and my work clothes on the porch, then locked the door and told me to sleep in my car(in freezing temperatures, was not allowed a key) so I drove to a friend's house. I had work in the morning, so I definitely wasn't getting sick. She blew up my cell asking why I drove off. Obviously to stay somewhere warm. She yet again threatened to kick me out for being late again from work. I grabbed a duffle bag, got extra clothes, my mini cash box, a few necessary items and told her I'm moving in with my BF. She woke my dad to tell him to make me stay. He just handed me a $100 bill, told me to be safe and went to bed saying he ditched home at 15 due to his chaotic family issues, he's not a hypocrite. Mom was fuming.

Like no, sorry but one, people can be born with medical issues...and two some people are told to go on to contraception to help them to stop bleeding to the point where they feel dizzy, sick, tired and lose their appetite. That’s a yes,no situation. Time for a sit down talk, but it should be through counselor. She can be the person who makes sure each person has a right to say what ever they want and no one else should interrupt they can talk when you are done or anyone else who’s talking. Tell them how bad it makes you feel every time they say they going to throw you out. As far as housework there should be a list and everyone has to be on that chore list. Then you write down what you can contribute and the rest of the family does the same. Try to make it a competition. Don’t forget dad has to be on this list. Good luck and have fun with it.

Currently pregnant but i used to argue with my husband about tampons. Turns out i have a tilted uterus and tampons really are tricky. Just a note: he grew up with only sisters so i can understand why he is biased. He didnt argue very much about it but it was annoying when he did. His female relatives bugged me about it too, so it wasnt him being petty and controlling. I dont think he will argue now that he knows i have a medical reason.

So I havent spoken to them in 6 years. I been happy ever since. They have burned their bridge with me. I won't allow them to hurt me anymore. I'm 30

@himeoni5238
@himeoni5238 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed... I personally think if they don't understand the abuse even after being explained, even if they didn't personally go through it, it should still be understandable to a certain degree after all, if they can't even comprehend that much, they're sure to hurt their own children in the future carelessly cause they don't even understand that it's abuse... It's just what I personally believe though, so I can't feel comfortable with people who don't understand or at least try to show they care even if they don't understand when I'm going through shit in life... Ever problem is a problem, big or small regardless. Even if a knife doesn't kill one person, another might still die from the same knife stabbed in the same spot because it just affected them way more and made them bleed way too much... Every person is different so even the way they handle a situation will be different, if you can't get along with someone it's best to be with someone you CAN get along with

2nd story sounds like my dad, without actually kicking me out ever. Honestly, he loves me I know and also cares for me, but his temper and choice of words are so arrogant, he would say things like this and when I would argue back he would say I am being disrespectful. I am an adult and in our culture we don't leave home when we turn 18, some do leave but most don't. Some men even stay with their parents after marriage. Mostly he is nice and tries to help as we are only two members in our family, but taunts like this always gets me. The last argument we got to end up him being said that he would kick me out, and no one in my age group is jobless anymore. I answered back that I'm jobless because I am forced to stay at home because he is ill, and not to ever threaten me again or I might just leave, and he would be hanging there with illness and no one to look after him because of his arrogance, whe had a bit of argument after that but didn't say much more, and later I felt bad because I know he cares for me and he loves me dearly, but God his attitude and arrogance can be too much at times. Honestly, sometimes I feel like to just pack my things and leave without ever looking back, but he is ill and we omly have each other.

Good that you stand up for yourself. You have to in order to show them that you are not weak and useless, as they think you are. Just because they love you don't mean that they can't be abusive. You sound young, don't spend all your youth caring taking care of someone (even a loving father) because that time will be gone so fast and one day you wake up middle aged with no job, skills or ability to take care of yourself. With depression, burnt out and nothing of your own. Take this time to get an education, get a job and you can pay someone to watch him. 💛🌻

But as you said trying to do both might just end up in disaster. Thank you for the advice, I'll keep in mind :)

That fiancé sounds like a real drag and she should give him the boot. At my wedding my heels hurt my feet so bad that after our ceremony, my husband insisted I take them off and walk around barefoot. I forgot my flats at home, but we lived a mile away from the church, and before I knew it he had gone home and come back with my flats. If someone is more concerned about someone’s opinion over your well-being and comfort, they’re not marriage material.

That third story- she should take that as an early sign that she should call every thing off. It's not only super-controlling behavior from him, but from his family as well. First story: It is not about her choice or not. He feels he is the man in the house so only his word alone has power. The old "women should be in the kitchen raising the children" trope. On steroids. Second story: If mom and dad were "good parents" it would be understandable if they are just worried about OP's safety. But they are not. It is about a renter (I bet for the "privilege of living here" some amount of "help" was "requested") and slave labour that suddenly fled without notifying the masters first. What is going on is the classical "golden child syndrome". The sister is precious and should not be bothered by lowly housework. The overworked, tired and hardworking failure should do it. And be glad. Third story: It was never about the heels or the height difference. It was a variation of the same "the woman should do what *I* say!" issue. Not only the flag is red. The flag pole and the grass around the foot are as well. Get away from that toxic family ASAP. If you "just suck it up", they gradually will destroy your self-confidence and leave you traumatized.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu. Like again? Honestly I'm only going to say this once...... men you don't have a period, and unless you get one don't talk to us. Or more appropriately don't complain about it unless you know what we're going through don't complain about it. Seriously the first guy was bad enough with having a problem with tampons even though it's not affecting him. And this guy...... let me spell it out for you........ it's doesn't affect you! Therefore you should have nothing to complain about. So therefore you should stop trying to control the women in your life and actually focus on your own life! That's all I got to say.

I feel like we need to hear from everyone's else's side of the story, bc some of these stories that Kyutie reads are pretty fricking outrageous. Not saying that they're wrong, but I know some people will throw in or take out extra details that may or may not drastically change to storyline. I always like to get the story fron both sides, abstract what's common from both sides, eliminate the bs part, and come up with a plausible conclusion. These stories don't really give you the chance to dissect the story since we only hear one person's side and not the full story. Again, I'm not saying that the people are lying, I'm just saying that I'd like to hear from the other side to better understand the story & truth.

Some of y’all are talking about that first story and saying that sleeping with a pad is her choice. While that sentiment is true, the issue is far worse than that. You’re not supposed to sleep with a tampon in, period. (pun not intended). If you don’t replace tampons regularly, you could contract toxic shock syndrome. It’s normally not a concern if you’re switching out regularly and staying clean, but how on earth are you supposed to replace a tampon if you’re sleeping? I repeat: DO NOT SLEEP WITH A TAMPON. EVER.

People, please let me offer some advice as the mother of a grown son and one half grown son, and as the daughter (survivor!) of a woman who has some serious mental health and emotional maturity issues: as soon as you are old enough to work, start saving money. Do not blow it all on trends and instant gratification. In my many years, I’ve seen even “good” families come unraveled and even “stable” parents freak out and jettison their kids from their homes and their lives. Save that cash! Money is independence, and independence is power and control over your own life. If a choice doesn’t serve your goals, don’t make that choice. I myself was homeless a few times as a teen before I finally left at age seventeen. My children have always known they always have a soft place to fall with me. I have taken in a few stray children over the years and paid for hotel rooms and rent deposits for some scared and poorly-equipped young people, so I know what I’m talking about. There is no shame in coming from less than ideal circumstances. You can’t help that and you do deserve better. Start where you are and take care of you. You can parent yourself and grow inside by making wise choices. You don’t have to eat crap from anyone.
