Two months ago I was on a vacation in Washington DC. We walked everywhere and every day I go worse and worse. By he end of 10 days I was in such pain. I was hanging onto my sister and leaning on a cane and sleeping sitting up on the couch in our hotel. Equally bad were my hip flexors. I walked bent over due to the pain and the bursitis was back on my Left Hip,. X-rays show severe Osteoarthritis on the L and moderate on the R hip. Basically this has been going on and off for about 4 years. Now, using your cooling down process and glut exercises I am doing so much better. I am able to get into and out of the car with very little pain. I go do my grocery shopping alone without hanging onto the cart. I am not able to walk over a city block YET but I will get there. Thank you.

I remember sitting in a university exercise physiology classroom in 1986 or 1987 having a discussion with my professor about atherosclerosis. At the time it was said that this condition could not be reversed. I mentioned that in biochemistry class, we learned that under the right conditions chemical reactions could be reversed . I asked my PhD professor if we could apply that principle in the discussion about atherosclerosis…he vehemently denied this was possible… a few years later studies emerged that showed it was possible to reverse the formation of plaque in arterial walls.

The clicking in my hip went away, I still have my left side of hip to keep working on, I think i could do this, I just want to say thank u very much. Happy & Healthy New Year To All !

Diet too, no sugar, fried foods or alcohol to reduce inflammation. It IS hard but I’m keeping at it. Set an alarm on my phone to do exercises. At first just a few times a day, now I’m up to hourly. Swimming also.

About a year ago, based on your posts, I began doing glute exercise twice a day. I do ten butt lifts to the count of ten and one hundred bouncing number fours on each leg as I go to bed and before rising out of bed after sleeping EXCEPT Saturdays. I also quit eating sugars at 98% and eliminated most white starches about 6 months ago. I naturally dropped ten pounds. I look up foods to see if they are anti-inflammatory before I cook them or eat them raw. At one point, I made YUCA Cuban style and ate it unaccompanied on an empty stomach and my arthritic hip miraculously stopped acheing me ! I discovered that YUCA capsules are available and that people claim it removes their aches. I'll be experimenting on myself with that and have just recently added it to my vitamins. I have been taking a Multi vitamin intended for diabetics, although I am not diabetic, but sugars make arthritis worse., Vitamin D3, Magnesium Glycinate, Boswellia, Kelp, Cranberry pill and I have VASTLY improved my personal situation. I figure it took many decades of abuse and eating what I wanted, a huge amount of sugars and starches. This new regimen is working well for me. I have improved and I am NOT giving up ! If I can do it, so can others. Won't say how old I am, but I bet I'm older than you.

My hip got really bad when I turned about 63 or so....too many slams from snowboarding, skateboarding, mtn biking and telemark skiing.....all my falls were on that left side. Doc showed me the bone on bone xray, and wanted me to schedule the replacement surgery.....I thought about it and at the same time looked at a lot of your vids among others, and decided I would at least hold off....3 years later its not perfect but with the work I put in at least my knee does not bow out on the upswing of a pedddle stroke on my bike anymore....that is huge. I straight up told my ortho doc that I was very disappointed that surgery was the only option they presented me, with no mention of rehab by working on the weak muscles in the mix.....(glutes anyone)??? He said some lame stuff like he wished me luck or something like that.....those dudes are programed by training and even more by the companies they work for to pump out those surgeries.....F them.....along with Big Food, Big Tech, and the FDA etc...F all of them.

Dr. David, can you address the role of weight loss in hip arthritis recovery? I've been told that a surprisingly small reduction in weight can make large changes in pressure points in the hip joint geometry. What's your experience?
@LynetteMaffescioni28 күн бұрын
A lot of people that are not overweight have arthritis. So its not necessarily a weight problem. My sister has bad arthritis and had to have a knee replacement and was never overweight. I have a hip issue and have never been overweight. I think doctors generalise too much, if you're overweight they'll say that's why. I went to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon to see if my hip labral tear could be fixed. In the report he sent to my doctor he wrote "I stressed to her the importance of losing weight". NO HE DIDN'T, because I never had excess weight to lose. He just generalised, he would have written that in most reports!.

I started watching Dr. Middaugh's videos about 2 years ago and thought this must be another of those cure-all claims. I went checked around for other ways to deal with this pain and ended up back here again. Once i focused on doing the exercises as he shows us on a regular basis i was amazed at how much better I felt. My left hip which has the severe OA no longer hurts. However, i managed to pull a groin muscle in my right side in early October and OMG!!! the pain was excruciating!!! This was a major set back for me. It was 2 full months before i could start just mild exercises. Funny thing is, my left hip was just fine thru this ordeal. Now I'm rehabbing the right side where I believe the tight strained groin muscles/flexors were causing so much pressure on the hip joint that its feeling as bad as the left side had been before doing these exercises. Im slowly working my way back to a tolerble level and I wont quit on myself. The flares don't last as long these days and it's obvious when I've slacked a bit. But I'm so much better now. Thanks for your good videos Doc!!!

I had a great improvement in the first month, with offloading and glutes activation through squeezing in standing , minibridges and miniclams. I am now finishing the second month and I feel some setback. It hurts little more and the glutes are not getting stronger as in the first month. I realised that I stopped using the 10 second hold in the minibridges and I feel that during the clam the deep muscle does not contract. I probably wrongly assumed that I need to work more the side glutes with doing clams and I somehow skipped the minibridges. So advice to all .Follow exactly what the doctor says for glutes activation and exercise in the phase one. Dont skip anything and maintain the 10 second rule. It is really the deep glute muscle right under your butt cheeks that has to fire first. For massaging I use foam roller on my quads and harmstring before the excersises

Do double steps with left leg 100 times, then 100 double steps with right leg, repeat if you can. This is a serious workout that builds legs from your foot to hip. I started at 50 double steps each leg and now up to 500 each leg daily.

@@paolaleanos-i2t Great! But I still see many people with hipreplacement being able to go without pain and being highly mobile too. I even see people jumping and running. I like go without replacement of knee and hip too, but think about kneereplacement if nessesary.
@paolaleanos-i2t15 күн бұрын
@@MrCarstennielsen the surgery and the recovery is not a big issue if you already fix your root problem (muscles imbalance) the problem is that once they cut a bone out of you and replace it with something else you run the risk that your replacement will only last you from 10-15 years. Wish here is where it comes the circumstances of each person. For example for me, if I get the surgery done at 34, I would have to get another surgery done at 44-55 which is not ideal I will still be very young and my lifestyle can completely change. So for me, it’s better to pro long the surgery. With his program I’m able to go pain free and of course you also need to change your diet( no smoking, no alcohol, no sugar, no processed foods, no carbs) all these are inflammatory foods. You have to be very disciplined. Now, I don’t know anything about knee pain thank god I don’t have that issue. It doesn’t hurt to get different opinions and give your self at least 3 months with mobility exercises and a good diet before jumping into any surgery.
