It's fascinating when people use things for a different purpose than the original one. I also belong to the people who start thinking when craftsmen or sellers say "There is nothing for that". We have a saying. "Everyone said it will not work. Then someone came who didn't know that - and did it."

I have used Skirt Hangers for DECADES ( 30 + years ) to hang up my tall boots, I use foam pieces to prevent the clip part from leaving marks on the leather, and I also use them for table linens, curtains,....a lot of things. A lot of these are new to some, I'm sure. I have always stored my flatware vertically, in a Wrought Iron separated thing, Mason Jars, so many different ways over the years. I detest those " drawer holders for flatware" .... They attract crumbs, get dirty, etc. Icky. Lol I use turntables for my spices, ...it would drive me crazy seeing all that on a Refrigerator!

I take that as a sign that it isn't organized for YOUR specific needs. A well organized space reflects how you use items and makes it easier to put things away than leave them out. Take some time to think about what would make it easier for you to find/use/return your items. A bin, more hooks, deeper drawers - or more drawers? Organizing is not a "one size fits all" project.

3:53 and 6:00 tried those magnetic spice containers. To dispense, you have to twist the metal lid so its holes line up with holes in the rim of the container. Too many spices were too gritty or something, and that twisting literally ground to a halt after a while.

1:53..............there you go. Now you have a legitimate avenue for saving all of the sauces that you ever get from any restaurant that you go to. 2:10..............I took my "levels" (in the upper right hand corner here) and hammered 1 nail into both sides of one vertical stud in my basement store room at 3 different places. Not only are they as far out of the way as is possible, but they also took up less hardware to need to hang. I also have numerous other tools fashioned in the same way on both studs and joists. Snow shovels, hand saws, circular saw blades, crowbars, folding saw horses, yadda, yadda, yadda. I also screwed a few "rails" onto the bottoms of adjacent joists all over my basement (I have an unfinished basement ceiling) for hanging various long items such as flag poles, pole antennas for CB and police scanners, pole tools (like rakes, hoes, maddox, tamper) and even my garden hoses when winter time sets. The rails are only 1" x 1" x 14" and the screws are driled straight up into the bottom of the joists. So far I have more than 20 rails held in place by only 40 screws but I might put in some more as the years go on. I actually drain my garden hoses for a whole day by throwing them over the roof of my house and then after rolling them up to take them into the basement I then unravel them and weave them through the rails of a few rows of joists so that they stay completely straight for 5 months in a row. Then when the next spring time comes they are a lot easier to keep straight once I start using them again.

3:57 and 6:00 Good way to accelerate the degradation of herbs and spices. They should be stored in the dark cool pantry. Also: People use things for exactly what they were created for? Hardly their “own” way. Ffs.
@ruh-roh94722 жыл бұрын
I came here to say that very thing ! If spices are on/near the stove the heat can dry them into oblivion ! I keep mine in a closet next to the kitchen that I turned into a pantry, and it keeps them from the light, heat, and humidity, but even a cabinet or drawer AWAY from the stove is good !

The wife who had every days outfit in an individual bag for vacation isn't someone who would ever travel with me. Holidays are a time for spontaneity. I would have no idea what I would be choosing to wear the next day because I wouldn't be totally sure what I would be doing! Happy side trips are what makes a great holiday.
@texasstardust60102 жыл бұрын
....I agree... and it is depending on weather ,as well. I'm more inclined to put certain outfits together, then label what ensemble is in the bag. Makes more sense, lol. Except dresses and nice tops ...those I hang up in a suitcase or garment bag.

As a neat freak most of the ideas make me happy. But as a minimalist, some of these things needed to be decluttered or donated. Having lots of organized things that you'll never use, unless they are a collection or for display are...useless!

Who organizes their books by colour? How do you find anything in this bookcase?
@miss_bhello79252 жыл бұрын

@jennyh40252 жыл бұрын
@@miss_bhello7925 and how do you find a book? And what about books in a series, that have spines in different colors? How do you find the right book without looking all over your bookshelves?
@miss_bhello79252 жыл бұрын
@@jennyh4025 Well, the way I did it, was I divided up the bookcase by topic, and each topic is where I organized by color. So, if I were to look for a book, I would just go to the section it would be in and read titles and look for the color. It just looked nice when the colors were blended, being less harsh on the eyes, rather than having colors stick out everywhere. I guess this wouldn't work for books in a series (I wouldn't want to separate those, either), or maybe not if you have tons of books. One bookcase was enough for my books. So, maybe I didn't go as extreme as some photos of it.
@jennyh40252 жыл бұрын
@@miss_bhello7925 thank you! As someone with several bookcases, I was really wondering.
@miss_bhello79252 жыл бұрын
@@jennyh4025 Lol. Yeah, it would likely get on my nerves after awhile if I had several bookcases too (and if everything was only by color) - unless I just never read. Lol. (Unless it just looked extremely pretty, but still...). I saw some other pictures where all the books on the shelf were turned outward, where you only saw the edge with the pages instead of the spines, and while it looked neat, I was really wondering about those! To find a book, you'd have to turn each book around. 😂

Some of these lovely people worry me a tad. Your pan lids need to be crisply separated, really? Your sprayer bottles can't sit on the cabinet floor? Honestly, a psychiatrist might say you hsve no control over your life, so you are imposing control on tiny situations that don't matter
