According to some comments on various videos it's all their own fault for copying the uniforms of Disneyland [I kid you not] and if they don't want to be treated like Disney actors then they shouldn't dress like Disney actors.

@@ElyHayz I know, same with the Greek military [in their traditional uniforms] or the Swiss Guard at the Vatican. But you'd be surprised how many claim they all copied their uniforms from Disney or Hollywood rather than Disney/Hollywood being the copycats. I even saw one totally ridiculous claim accusing one of the Asian militaries [I'd like to say India but I don't think it was, might have been a Middle Eastern country thinking about it] of taking their unforms straight out of Bollywood while I've seen similar accusations leveled agains the Norwegian ceremonial uniforms as well [when they appear at the Edinburgh Tattoo, specifically when they are ''inspected'' by Brigadier Sir Nils [look him up, so cute] while they poked fun at them for being inspected by said Sir Nils. Some people give an entirely new meaning to both ignorant and for being totally disrespectful of other's militaries. But criticise the US military [mainly seems to be people from the US doing the criticising of uniforms/traditions of other countries military for some reason] such as those guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier in the US and boy do they lash out. They can wear super fancy uniforms but not other countries it seems.

The Queens Guard (or Kings Guard now) are selected from the best of the best of the best. They are the most elite warriors in the whole of the country, and even then undergo extra training. The reason they wear black trousers is because they cannot leave their duty to go to the bathroom - the black hides any pee stains. They are the most highly trained killers in the world, and they will not hesitate to kill you if you are a threat. The shouted warnings are them being nice.

Actually, the sign does not say "do not grab the rein" in these videos - as someone commented below, it does say so now, and there's also a picture explaining it. "The horse may bite or kick" was too vague, and if someone is going to shout out so loud or walk over children, the rules should be clear: how close you can go, maybe cordon off the area where these "combat soldiers" are going to march.

The “fuzzy hats” are black bear fur from Canada. Any monarchs guard do not speak except for warnings. The guards you are talking about are FAMOUS and have been known to as THE HORSE GUARDS for hundreds of years. Sometimes when an elderly person or disabled person stands next to them for photographs you will notice the guardsmen/women will subtlety move the horse towards the person for a better photograph. Tourists should NEVER touch the horse or bridle, touching the soldier is a total no no. Some adults have no brain though. I spent nearly 30years in the army so know what I’m talking about. Ps. The King's Guards stand in front of the "Horse Guards" building in London. They are not Disney World characters, but tourists behave as if they were. They are highly qualified and trained military personnel. Grabbing the reins of the horses is the same as grabbing the steering wheel of a vehicle. Some people are very disrespectful and rude, especially Instagram influencers made life very difficult for the King's Guards. A few months ago, the signs on the boxes were updated: "Don't touch the reins" But not much changed, on the contrary, people complained to the police patrolling in front of the building that the guards were rude. A few weeks ago, the word "Reins" was replaced by the word "Horse" but it did not helped very much. They put one more, large, red prohibition sign with a hand touching the horse. Most tourists comply, but as soon as someone starts doing it again, the next ones naturally follow suit. Some even feed the horses with sweets or other inappropriate things, which is of course very dangerous, because these horses get their special food, you don't need to feed them! Also this are not rickety farm horses, but noble and extremely expensive military-trained breeding horses. Nowadays, people simply can't behave anymore and mock and ridicule the guards, laugh at them and even touch them. Can you imagine touching a US Marine who is on duty/patrol in front of an American embassy, the White House or anywhere else in front of an American Building? In London, the residents are therefore in favor of closing this side of the street to tourists, so nobody is stressed and annoyed anymore, not the guards and not the horses either.

There are now image/picture signs telling people not to touch the horses. It was getting so bad this spring that they were using known biters ( the horses, I mean) to try and stop people from grabbing reins or petting the horses and standing too close to them. It didn't work. The ijits thought it was a special challenge to see if they could get a horse to nip at them. Quite a few twits got really bitten...the horses left marks! The guards will let you pet the horse if you're respectable and the horse allows it, but non-horse people immediately go for the reins which is the guards method of communicating with their horses. This is a problem because non-horsey people can be very heavy handed and pulling on the reins can cause a lot of discomfort and possibly upset the wrong horse. You should look up some wholesome interactions with these guards and horses with kids or disabled. The horses literally know if someone should know better or not lol

The sign is there to give the Mounted Royal Guard 'qualified immunity'. In the first case where the guy 'seemed' oblivious to the repeated commands "GET OFF THE REIGNS!" the guard 'instructed' his mount to deliver a hind swipe, if that fails the guard is armed with a functional combat sword, they generally just hit the alarm button if the commands and horse manoeuvring fails. And... Yes, they are authorised to use deadly force. The royal guard, also known as the palace guard, is a group of soldiers or armed retainers who protect the royal family. They are often an elite unit of the armed forces and may have special privileges or rights.

The ‘swatting’ bit looks staged .A real guard would not ,as a rule, raise his hand to anyone. More likely a loud shout and a forceful step forward.Trying to get the guard to smile could end up costing him money as they can be fined fora breach of the rules.

Horse Guards have recently introduced a new sign which has added, 'don't touch the horse,' and a road-sign type of graphic representation. This has improved the situation, but too many tourists still walk around in a dream world, not noticing the signs, or engaging their brains before acting.

14:28 in... This might seem a strange strory or not real but I have a cousin who worked as a "Royal Life Guards" in Copenhagen in Denmark (yes, I am danish but live in luxembourg). They pretty much have the same outfit with the super tall bear furr "helmet". The tourists behave pretty much the same way as they do in england with those guards... one of my cousin's colleague was litteraly spit on once and he replied with a big hit with the "bottom" of his riffle on the tourist head... he broke his jaw. The tourist tried to sue him but of course he could not; he spit on the guard (it could have gone much worse). Just for the story... my cousin and others while having a leave in their training to become a guard (that is after military training etc of course) drank to much and for some weird bet they shaved the fur of one of the guys "helmet"; he (the guy) had to pay for a new one and discovered that it was real bear fur and that is was worth what would be around 5000€ now

This is an old video. There has been a couple of changes to the signs since then. New signs have been put in up the last 3 weeks , one written and one visual to tell tourists not to touch the horses. It does seem calmer now. Although, a couple still ignore them and it is obvious some stand as close as possible so the horse will lean towards them, as some horses are very sociable. Whilst there are others that bite, namely a Blues and Royals horse (trooper) called Ormonde, he likes his own space.

Its the people who live on the other end of the "Chunnel" and those guys with hair ringlets, skull caps and strings hanging down around them that are the worst offenders. I've deliberlately not mentioned the two countries names because not everyone from these countries are rude, maybe jst the ones who have money to vacaion travel.

This is Horseguards parade, the official entrance to Buckingham Palace. This guard is a Blues &Royal and when the guards in red uniform are on duty, they are The Kings Lifeguards. At the Palace the guards in the bearskins are Coldstream Guards. Tourists, sadly, are very ignorant of where they are and how they behave. It is not a photo area, the guards are guarding the entrance - but photographing tourists are tolerated.
