Dissing a Daughter

The plaintiff claims she bought her mother a phone and put it in her own name, but the defendant didn’t pay the bill like she agreed to do, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues she moved in with her daughter and took care of her child while the plaintiff went out and partied, so she shouldn’t have to pay the bill.

There's a saying: "Stop forcing kids to have a relationship emotionally abusive family members. You aren't teaching them family first, you're teaching them that regardless of how someone treats them, they're supposed to love them unconditionally, and that's not a good lesson."

The grandmother didnt appear too dysfunctional, but you can tell by how the daughter spoke at the end there was clearly way way more to their story. My mother doesn't know every little thing about me, but she knows all of my moods, she knows when I'm sad, she cries for me and with me, she laughs with me, she talks with me, she's THERE for me. @@Kayla-rd5jd Hi Kayla .. I’m so sorry you had to endure a Mother who would put a man before her own flesh and blood, I don’t know the full dynamics of your story but I will say for a person / Mother who would do that is obviously missing a few cards from her deck. I’m sure after she left you and your family was able to get by just fine without her , when someone shows you who they are you must believe them as Maya Angelou once said. I’m adopted and my birth mother came back into my life 7 years ago after being absent since I was 5 ..Iam now 38 . She put off seeing me numerous of times saying she’s going to spend time with her boyfriend.. mind you I only saw her physically 3 times in 7 years . So you have to think what’s most important quality time with your family your blood.. or a man . I’ve cut my birth Mom off .. so I don’t blame you for your actions. In the long run it’s her lost , in time she’ll realize when that man sucks her dry and there’s no real family around ,she’ll regret it .

I understand where Judge M is coming from and why she always champions for families to work it out but she has to realise that her way of thinking isn’t always right! She clearly comes from a loving family, which is why she can’t imagine how a family can feel the way these litigants do and why family members decide to stop associating with toxic family members. Unless someone has been in that situation or lived through that kind of dysfunction and heartache, they will never understand. I myself come from a loving family and can’t imagine that I will ever be in this situation, but I can also understand that the only experience that I have, is the one that I’ve lived! So I would never tell another person what they should do in their situation based off of my experience, thoughts and feelings. It’s so easy for the judge to say what she says all of the time when it comes to family but she has to stop thinking she knows it all and that she is right, when all that she has is her own experience. Family or not, if someone is toxic in your life, you have the right to back away from them for your own sanity. If someone had a toxic friend or romantic relationship, I guarantee that the judge would tell them to cut that person off, so why should it be any different with family just because they are family? Toxic is toxic!

Her Mom's life was fine. She and her son moved in with her because they needed to. Daughter decided to move and wanted her Mom to go knowing she would be without an income. She should have found means to pay her own phone bill though. People are talking about how the Mom basically disowned her daughter, but I haven't read yet any comments on how the daughter said if her mom was on fire she wouldn't spit on her to save her life. She's mad about the conversation with the boyfriend ( now ex). She WILL need her Mom again. I HAD a friend who's entire family cut ties with her because of how she treated everyone. Her parents helped raise her son ( and was doing a great job), she treated them terribly. She lost several friends who witnessed it. When her parents passed, noone at the funerals spoke to her...Noone. It's heartbreaking that family is like this towards each other. I don't know what ever happened to the person I was friends with, her children haven't spoken to her in years.

It's comical that everyone is pegging the grandmother as toxic. Was she toxic when the drunk dropped her son off to be cared for? How toxic was she when she uprooted her life to move and be a 24/7 live caregiver. The drunken daughter is a petty, entitled, ungrateful lil #itch. Because trust me, if her mother was that bad before, she definitely would have made it known.

Its annoying that the judge tries to give relationship advice about a situation she knows nothing about. That woman could be toxic and unhinged and she pushes that the son should spend time with her.

It's saddening to know that things happen this way between individuals. It's important to remember that blood makes you related and not family. Family is work. Just because someone is a sibling or parent, doesn't mean you will get along or care to be around each other. Now, I don't think one should continue to harbor hatred toward another and should instead do the work to resolve the issue (even if without the other party).

My heart goes out to the daughter. That mother is evil specially what she said at the end. It's always, always family that hurt each other. Sometimes it's just best to stay away for your own sanity because there's just no fixing that mother I knew she was evil the minute she walked in the court. Like I said unless you live through that you can't tell. I can spot an evil mother a mile away

My parent's had six children. We all grew up in the same house. Im the youngest. Five of us are normal. One of my sis has an attitude like the plaintiff. As long as my mom is doing something to benefit my sis everything is great. As soon as my mom disagree with her, she the worse mother on earth. Sometimes people feel entitled and has nothing to do with their parents.
