Most people in the military I see on these videos act like they were single handedly taking on ISIS, nice change of pace. People don't realize most in the military shot a gun once or twice and 90% of jobs don't have anything to do with combat. You need to stay ready and could be called on for some defensive use of force at times, but it isn't typical.

I'm in a military family, and I can say that most of these meals are actually really tasty! Except for as they said, the veggie ones. They sometimes have some snacks in there. Sour Skittles, crackers, bread, all sorts of good stuff.

Air force is pampered af. I worked on the base in the kitchen with the Air Force. The people we served for is the biggest babies/complainers. There was 45% nice people and 55% the people that is sooooo pampered. But I would totally work there again, if the Air force would let civilians work on base again.

Only reason I know how to use MRE food is because it's all we had when a hurricane hit my city and we ate these meals for a good while. Nothing compares to being over seas at war tho.

I remember my grandfather saying that MREs would have been a luxury if they had existed when he was in the militiary. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. He had to eat C 3 Rations. They came in tin cans. It also came with a can opener.

As someone who has eaten all of these, allow me to rank 1. Chili w/ beans 2. Hashbrowns 3. Chicken Chunks 4. Beef Taco 5. Vegetarian Option 6. Creamy Spinach Chicken chunks are overrated because they come with guaranteed candy. Stop being cheap, go to the damn store and buy your own candies. Chili w/ beans is not only actually one of the few edible options, it comes with sides that completely complement the main dish. Main being cornbread, crackers, cheese spread, and fruit punch.

It should be noted that those emergency rations aren't really eaten by the coast guard. They are required by the coast guard to be a part of the loadout for life rafts and boats. There's a list of items that are required to be on boats/rafts so in the event of an emergency, you can survive for a couple days. Unlike MRE's they are not intended for regular consumption.
