This is so receding into night. It has a golden death to it.

No offence to the great master..but does he not play certain scales at the begining that other guitarists play with the orchestra..I also sense a sluggish spirit if I might add..

Probably due to his old age. But there are other concerts with other orchestras. The one in England was probably the best.

If you notice in the video he was sweating copiously which was interfering with his performance. Probably it was hot in the theater that day.

I saw John Williams play this in Melbourne Australia around 1995 and his performance was tawdry compared to Pepe. I paid for front row seating and was really looking forward to seeing him. Unfortunately I had a few drinks at the pub after a very hard day's work, got there and dozed off in the second movement with my head down and looked up when he hit a wrong note only to find him glaring at me - oh dear, how embarrassing for John Williams ROFL. I never saw Julian Bream live but to me his performance of this in the final episode of Guitarra with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe - Neville Marriner is the ultimate interpretation of Concierto de Aranjuez for me. Who'd have thought an Englishman?
