I think this commercial might’ve been released a little bit after the movie was over. Yeah before 2004 if you looked away from the screen, there’s no way to see it unless you happen to come across the commercial again and the Internet wasn’t quite enough where you could look up this clip the way you could today. At those first few sentences isn’t necessarily a big spoiler by any means.

Man wish everyone accepted jake. I really loved anakin as a kid especially when he was pod racing. It was very relatable as a kid. Anakin felt like the vehicle into the movie for all kids watching and that was new in a star wars movie

Because Disney didn't treat the Sequel Trilogy like it was the next big chapter of the Star Wars franchise like Lucas did with the Prequel Trilogy. Lucas spent many years planning out these films, and within that timespan also came plans for how their marketing campaign would work. Disney, on the other hand, just threw their movies together in five minutes over their lunch break for no other reason than to cash in on their shiny new intellectual property.
