A nice cheese made from on hand storage preps and its yummy too. If you can get non instant milk all the better, but if not, then just double your milk powder to the other ingredients.
Recipe:
3 cups non instant milk powder
4 quarts water
2/3 cup oil (This makes it melt and be gooey)
1& 1/2 cup vinegar
If you want a flavor other than mozzarella then use some type of flavoring

I am so glad. This is a winner around here and I like the idea that even without electric and the fridge I can have cheese for my family.

That's great Sheila. If you let it sit for a while in the fridge it gets more and more like mozzarella for slicing. This is a fantastic cheese. After a while you can shred it or just crumble for pizza and other foods, but the big thing to me is --it melts and gets all gooey! Yummy stuff!

interesting, i like powdered milk, but i didnt know you could make chees fom it! also, for those who think prepping is just for a major SHTF event,it doesnt have to be apocalyptic. A SHTF moment could be you lost your job and you have kids and yourself to feed, fixed income and you prepped, properly stored and stashed a lil over time,or an extreme weather event like a snowstorm. This info can be used by anyone, thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Lol no but seriously camping with some fresh items to eat instead of large cooler and tons of ice fresh cream cheese or yogurt with granola and some freshly picked berries or apples I'm sure would be a welcome treat !!! Just saying. A nice piece of fish with some yogurt sauce. Many possibilities.

There you go! I am soooooooooo proud. Its great for all of us to know we can do things rather than always depend on others to make things for us. I first started this by looking for ways to have cheese if the SHTF. My whole culture od food is mainly based on cheese. I use that powdered milk for everything but drinking although in a real pinch I would. Great news. Thanks!

It does not have a vinegar taste. This is really great. At todays cannery cost, it comes to $1.72 for the amount of cheese made from a gallon which is over a pound. Its great. We use it for pizza all the time.
