I didn't have to go to the movie theater, because TNT, USA Network and Lifetime had the best movies ever. And there were still made for TV movies on ABC, NBC and CBS back then. You are amazing.

Ivan Dixon had a lot to do with it. We shot a chunk of it in LA... and Ali spent a big part of a day on set when we were shooting at the old Hoover Gym(now gone, I believe) in South Central LA. Lotta folks were there/dropped by because of Ivan Dixon(director).

I'm the writer, Art Washington--we were extremely fortunate to have Grover Washington, Jr.(no relation) agree to do the music for the film. This movie was based on a number of real events and Black Folks I encountered in the fight game. The real "Percy"(who unfortunately passed away) has a small part in the movie. Shadeed Suluki, a world-class boxing trainer(son Kamal Suluki) oversaw all the fight material.

Thanks... and please check out another film I am proud of: KEEP THE FAITH, BABY, The Adam Clayton Powell story. Hated Hollywood--and fought with a bunch of the Folks who run the joint...but... managed to stick around and get these 2 done... so--please fix the name. Fought with Spielberg over this damn thing(his company produced-lousy encounter with the guy...usual Hollywood race crap)... and while I wasn't thrilled with a few things... sure feels good to see some of you folks seem to really have enjoyed the movie.
