One moment I really liked was when Sally and Poseidon are talking and she asks if she wants to meet him. Poseidon looks over and I felt he wanted to talk to him, but then you hear thunder rumbling. Gives me the feeling he wanted to be more involved but worried about making him a target for Zeus.

Honestly, the man deserves better than the family drama he gets. When he doesn't want to be involved in any of their problems, he isn't a great guy however, he never gets any say in these issues. I also like how you sum him up in 5 words. Even if he wanted to quit he can't because no one can take care of the soul and rebirth process. Still, it is very tiring for even a god of the underworld to be dragged into this said "quest" even though he wants nothing to do with it, BUT NO because being the lord of the underworld already gets you a bad rep because he is associate with death and bad things in general.

The painting in Hades’ palace is Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delights” which is pretty cool because it has a lot to do with Hell, Sin, Judgement and the Garden of Eden. It’s pretty fitting being there in the underworld honestly was a cool addition to see!

The painting is in El Prado museum in Madrid. It's a so called triptych=three pictures: the left one is the Eden or Paradise with Adam and Eve, centre one the "garden of earthly delights" depicting all of seven sins, mostly lust, and the right one is Hell. Same. Though it doesn't make me hate the show, it would definitely be more fun to see the kids actually walk into a trap unknowingly once or twice; this bothered me the most with the Lotus Casino, as it's supposed to be part of the big reveal of how long they were trapped there, which is integral to the plot. In this episode, on the one hand it bothered me less because it's a less significant scene, but on the other hand, they don't even give an explanation for how Percy knows that Procrustus is evil.

I love the part where Percy realizes who’s the mastermind, as well as how Hades reacts to his realization. It’s subtle, but you can notice by Hade’s change in tone and by offering Percy sanctuary that he isn’t just shocked, he is downright scared, which makes sense given his and Kronos’s history. Hades is so scared to learn this knowledge, he begins to act irrational. It really gives you an idea of how dangerous Kronos really is, since the idea of him coming back spooks the God of the Underworld.

They kind of already knew because they were already behind schedule because of Hermes. Besides, at this point they're in the quest to try and save Percys mom just as much as anything else. A scene of them finding out the quest failed isn't important enough to show if it doesn't change anything. They both would have still followed Percy into the underworld to save Sally. That was the point of showing the growth of the friendship between all three of them. That scene was not necessary as it would have been if they still weren't friends.

Man I friggin' LOVE the design of the Underworld! Finally a version of it thats not just Hell! And Hades's palace looking like it's upside down was a stroke of genius! The whole place reminded me A LOT of the Void in Darksiders 3. Also I think Percy DID outsmart Crusty, it really seemed like they had it planned for Percy to stall or bait Crusty for Annabeth to push him. The whole exchange between those two really felt planned and not like Percy was in danger at all. Also Annabeth didn't put Cerberus to sleep, she scratched right in that one spot thats ticklish for most dogs and just put them into a state of confort, saying as a dog owner. When she slipped and stopped scratching thats when Cerberus was done with her. 12:37 thats because it looks like they are sinking IN WATER. While I do think it would look a little better to maybe evaporate into milky-white mist upwards, the concept of the pearls is that "everything returns to the sea", so they are basicaly sinking to resurface in the world of the living, through the sea.

I believe Annabeth's regret is actually in the books! I'm 90% sure it's going to be that she never tried to reconnect with her dad after running away from home. In the books, Annabeth tells Percy about the situation with her dad pretty early on while she shows him around camp, and he kinda hints to her that she should talk to him (probably because he knows how important his own relationship with his mortal parent has been), and she brushes him off for it but in the end reveals that she thinks it's a good idea. So far in the show, she's talked about her dad, but we haven't gotten any hints from her that she actually misses her dad. I'm guessing that the next episode she tells him her regret and he encourages her to reconnect with her dad. Same as the books, just later on.

I'm thinking the same. Percys wears Annabeths necklace in Olympus. I think they are gonna talk about what she regrets, she is gonna tell him about her father/his ring and gives him her necklace for Olympus. That could also be the (light spoiler) "very sweet moment" between Percy/Annabeth in the cabin, that made Aryan cry.

@@benjalucian1515 I'm guessing you didn't read the Heroes of Olympus series. In it, Annabeth describes that she ran away from home after being attacked in the night by swarms of spiders, and that her stepmother didn't believe her, and wouldn't let her tell her father about it. Can you imagine a 7-year-old dealing with that? IMO it's amazing that she eventually forgave her stepmother, because I would have a really hard time doing so if I was her.
@milinski_6893

@@benjalucian1515 I don't think she played the victim. Annabeth was just a scared eight year old child. She was scared because her dad and step mom could not protect her from the monsters she saw. Of course, we know that that it wasn't really their fault, because their are mortal and could not see the monsters. Additionally, as far as I remember from the books, at least her step mom did not really believe her when she talked about the monsters trying to get to her. She thought that Annabeth just had a wild fantasy, which of course hurt her even more. Annabeth wants other people to see that she is smart, because that's a big part of who she is and everybody wants to feel appreciated by their parents, right? Also, just like every other child, she wants to live in a safe home. But she could not get both of these basics needs from them. Though, once she got to camp half blood she noticed that she could get it there. So to her it now seems like her dad and step mom did not try hard enough. I mean, even if she logically knows that it wasn't really their fault, it's still hard for her to just ignore her hurt feelings and the horrible things she had to go through. Actually, her regreting to never answer her dads letters show that she logically knows that.

OMG, 11:07 I KNOW THAT PAINTING! It's the Garden of Earthly Delight by Hieronymus Bosch from 1490 -1500 It's a Triptychon, a painting which has 1 main painting, two wings and on the outside of the wings is a depiction of the earth on the 3rd day. It depicts from left to right the Garden of Eden, The Human World and Hell and it is probably one of the most important paintings of the dutch renaissance because it displays hell which didn't happen too often. And it's incredibly important in the history of Art all together because it's the first painting that can be considered a surreal painting 400 years before surrealism was properly established. I love it you should really look at a big version and have fun looking at all the weird and messed up stuff Also if you look at the scene percy and grover are standing in front of "Hell" and Sally is pointing to the "Human World"

Also, I loved Hades just not wanting to go up to Olumpus, since they've been changing the story to show how mean the gods are to each other in almost every episode of the show so far. It makes sense that he's just tired of being made a scapegoat and he'd rather just hang out in his lair where he doesn't have to deal with their problems and drama. A aslo really liked the detail with the rain, like when they were talking in the first episode, maybe this is their way to stay connected and communicate(not only for Percy i hope haha). This could also be the reason why they didn't looked at each other (in 7th episode), maybe poseidon wasn't actually (physically) there (also like the first episode). I really like what they add to Poseidon and Sally's story and i hope they will show maybe the scene how the met or just moments before percy.

The season isn't over yet and there's still time for them to have a conversation about it. Possibly Percy and Chiron when he's back at camp, with someone mentioning why it was so easy to jump to blaming Hades and talking about his banishment or something (or they can ignore that whole part but I try not to judge things that didn't happen because that's what people did episodes ago for things that got explained in future episodes. like the grown babies crying about how Percy wouldn't leave his mom behind since they got 4 pearls. I agree. I overall like the show as a fan, but there are some majors issues that are common to all episodes. For example the photography is so generic and anonymous, as some changes that took away the sense of wonder that in the books gave some colors to the story. Sometimes is flat, but I think the issue isn't the writing because, even if sometimes is little childish, butcan be smart and great, the main problem stays in the direction that is simply flat. Sometimes there are some good shots, but they don't excite me so much. I hope that in future seasons it will be improved, because I heard some issues with it being too much dialogical, but a show can be only dialogs but at the same time so entertaing thanks to the direction. But, for now I like it and I recommend it mostly to no fans because I think us fans are influenced by the book, in fact I have some friends who are like obsessed with the show and I'm so happy about that.

Yeah, mixed feelings. The episodes are too short and they almost always do weird stuff just to add content, and it makes the plot too complicated. If I was a kid, it would just go over my head. And I would say this episode was the worst in cutting good stuff from the book. Just a short recap of the weird changes: E2: Clarisse bullies Percy because she thinks he is a liar. Why? In the book it was just initiation to the camp and then revenge. It made more sense. E3: Percy chooses Annabeth to go on the quest because he doesn't like her. This doesn't make sense. E3: Both Annabeth and Percy are offered to betray the group. Don't need this drama. E4: They go to the temple at the Gateway Arch, but Athena doesn't protect them. Again, don't need this drama. In the books they just happened to be there, because Annabeth likes architecture. E5&6: At this point they are trying to get to Poseidon, but they meet Ares, who sends them to Hephaestus, and then to Hermes, and after all this Poseidon doesn't show up. Too complicated. E6: They know about the lotus from the get go, but its in the air conditioning. Just let them be stupid and eat it! E7: Grover looses his pearl in the dog, Annabeth gets stuck and as the dog attacks her she uses the pearl. Not only is this just too unbelievable, but it splits the trio in the fifth episode in a row (bus, medusa, arch, water park, casino, underworld). Still, there are so many details I like and the cast is great. I don't know what to think.

And, HE was the one who dragged Annabeth and Grover out of there. But instead, it was Percy who forgot Grover and Annabeth had to remind him and I was like "Oh come on, don't make this another Hermione and Ron thing". Esp when you consider that Annabeth has several smart moments in the book. And in 7th ep I was truly annoyed, when they gave another Percy's smart moment of outsmarting Crusty to Annabeth! For Charon, I was fine, as that sequence would have taken longer. The writers are doing exactly what they did in HP. I hope they do not continue it in the coming ep

That's actually a mistake from the books, someone as important as Hades shouldn't be the type of person to admit he holds a grudge, it's something that gives you a bad image. The show did well in showing him as someone confident and not very interested in what happens on Olympus, he should behave like one of the big three, not like an emo

Actually, th books' version of hades is indeed mythologically accurate, as even in real mythology he did some decidedly morally questionable stuff. This version of th show appears to be based on th lucian version of th myth

I don't hate the new Hades, he's just very different from book Hades. I wish he was a little bit gloomier and stern because that's how he came off in the books, this guy is very chipper for someone who is around death 24/7. But I guess he kind of favors the dead over the living, so it does make sense. I think they're trying to make the gods much goofier which is good, it only makes you feel bad for everyone around the gods when you take them too seriously because they can be huge assholes. The only god I really hope is similar to the books is Athena. They better take her seriously and keep her the same.

@@ryankwon8785 In Greek Mythology Poseidon was a piece of shit, but they havent adopted that part into the series... Why suddenly move into myth territory but only with this character?

I think that Hades was just making excuses to Percy. I think they will keep the backstory and go more into it later, especially when they do the DeAngelos.

I like this show, but one thing I absolutely hate is that the trio knows everything. Medusa, the casino, Crusty etc. From the perspective of someone who loves to analyse books and characters, the fun part was that they walk into traps, which kinda tells you that they're beginners and they have a lot to learn. The show made them seem like experts. Also, you're right. This episode in particular reminded me a lot about the Harry Potter series. Cerberus absolutely looked just like Fluffy, and this episode just sealed the deal for me that even in this, as in the HP films, they're gonna give all the amazing scenes to the lead female.

So firstly, I thought it was cool to see Crusty on screen. I also thought him being played by the same actor who played Charon in the movie was a nice Easter egg. But I'm a bit sad they changed how the trio enter the underworld, because I thought the recording studio entrance in the book was pretty cool 😂. I thought the underworld sequence was solid for the most part. I also liked that the show's take on Hades had a lot more of his humanity from the books. However, I agree it's annoying how much they keep separating the main trio. I didn't mind it so much in Episode 5 because we got some great Percabeth moments out of it and Grover's exchange with Ares was fun to watch, but now it's just getting old. For me, the highlight was definitely the Sally flashbacks, especially the one with Poseidon. It nearly made me cry 😭. Fingers crossed the Ares vs. Percy battle lives up to our expectations 🤞

As a non book reader that still knows a great deal about them, this was my favorite episode by a long shot. Hades the character and the actor playing him became my favorite thing about the episode nearly instantly so i hope they bring him back more often lol

i think percy’s smart moments are how he comes to conclusions of the truth on his own and how he knows so much about mythology unlike in the books

Don't know if MovieFlame is gonna see this, but a fun little fact about the show that I just learned today is that Toby Stephens (the guy who plays Poseidon) is actually the son of Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter)

Heres my pros for this episode Seeing hades it was a delight hes my one of my favorites from mythology in general Sallys story has been fantastic. I really am glad they are using her more Seeing percys dad was great cant wait to see zues unfortunately the actor who played him passed last year so im curious to see what thet do in future episodes I have a few cons Keep the kids together they always get separated or something and while they do well i want the core three together Another gripe was it was not long enough in my opinion

I honestly kind of hated this episode, just because Charon and Procustes were some of my favorite characters, and I initially almost cried when they got four pearls, just saying, "here we go again", but I was willing to give it all away when I thought that Poseidon was portrayed by Ewen Mcgregor, and then I just kinda gave up, hoping the next episode will be better edit: I also feel like Hades was too nice in this, in the book he was bitter, and I really liked him that way

Yeah I agree. People say "at least they didn't make Hades evil." Well he wasn't evil in the books. He was just misunderstood and upset because he thought Percy stole his helmet. I wish he could've been more intimidating. I felt like we got a Willy Wonka version of Hades. I'm annoyed with the Charon and Procrustes scenes too

For hades i forget the exact line but its something like " family drama is why i dont go up there very much" which i chose to interpret as "some drama happened and i got kicked out" so that he still was banished

Personally, my favourite episode so far is 5, but this one is definitely a close second. I just think Ares and Hades are the most charismatic characters in the show and you can tell both actors are having so much fun in their roles.
