My opinion about the Piper controversy; we already knew way too much about piper in the lost hero. It was kind of boring, because it seemed like all we were talking about was piper. Uncle Rick established the fact that she was half Native American(that’s another thing, her ethnicity was not JUST Native American), and he threw in some stories here and there about her growing up Native American. Also, why should someone’s ethnicity be such a big part of someone’s personality? I feel like that would just end up making a shallow character. People saying that Piper’s Native American stories, etc., was stereotypical; there’s a reason why stereotypes exist, that’s because it happens to the majority of that community(I am in no way endorsing harmful stereotypes, the majority of those are false). The stereotype that the reservations aren’t the greatest place to live, and old people telling old stories about what their ancestors believed, isn’t false, and isn’t harmful.
