It's definitely got character and I like the design and PVD of the 12hr bezel. Really like the handset and colour-matched datewheel. Peren, if you're reading, I was ready to buy after one glance but the bracelet mismatch was a deal-breaker. I thought it would look good on a leather strap and it does, but as a bracelet fan, the trifecta of push pins, mismatched finish, and a cheap clasp just sinks this novel diver for me. Version 2 could be amazing though... maybe a burgundy and a flat blue grey dials to go with that teal.

I own this watch and chose to forego the bracelet for a leather strap. Much better look which also solves the mismatch you mentioned. Hoping to have this piece for many years to come. A true beauty.

Excellent legibility with that white handset against the dark dial. I love that seconds hand too! It’s the arrowhead tip, and length, that does it for me…of course the 4Hz movement helps! Great execution of the date complication.

This watch has been on my radar for months now. I'm normally a big fan of stainless steel bezels but I think the Peren "Rogue" model with the all-black bezel is the one that really speaks to me. The color choices used and the big crown really makes this watch pop. A couple drawbacks as you mentioned but nothing that would turn me off this watch. Peren should be commended for this watch. It really keeps my interest up in the smaller Micro niche.

Love that bezel 🥰 It doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb but it has a podium-like look-n-feel that I really like. And for me, this one should definitely live on the strap. Really great discovery! Thanks for sharing! 😄👍🏼

Thx Pete, the Nera line speaks without a doubt a unique design language. Adding to the pros I like to mention that these watches are on sale right now. 488 CHF equals to just above 500 USD. That is a fantastic price for a regulated SW200! But with my 6.5 inch wrists the male end links together with the shiny bracelet make this watch unfortunetly an unwearable package. Otherwise it would have been a no brainer for me...

Great review Pete and many thanks for your objectivity. I've looked at this watch, and even with its "flaws", overall it is a brilliant piece. Ironically, the long design including male end links which I adore is what negates this watch for me because of my small 6.75in wrist 😖 This said, I love the design, fit & finish, and regulated SW200 movement. I like it! I'd prefer 40mm and slightly shorter lugs, but could happily live with it I suspect. For under $500, seems a very good deal. The bracelet issue would not bother me.

Nice fair review. Agree with everything you said, love the look. All brushed would be an easy win. The lug holes when you put the leather strap on had a huge gap, so maybe some work there too?!

Thanks for the review Peter. A real good looking watch. A deal breaker for me is the unidirectional bezel. With the hour markings, it should be a bidirectional one in my opinion.

Small for me. I love the handset. Perfect length on all hands. The one you compared it to comes up short on the handset. My comment is so hopefully companies will make handsets that actually cover the minute marks which is how it should be done. In my opinion.

Oh dear, I thought that I really didn't need another watch. After watching this review, looking at the website, and looking at reviews I succumbed and bought one on the vintage leather strap. I fell to my knees and wept at my weakness but as there is a 5% discount offered I soon brightened up.

It is a nice watch with a distinct design language and overall I like it, for example the well integrated and colour matched date complication. But firstly the hour hand is too long by a millimeter and as you say there is a mismatch between the bead blasted case finishing and the brushed bracelet, even exacerbated by the polished sides. The bracelet looks like an afterthought to me.

Thank you Peter, I am starting to believe that you have one of the best watch channels on KZbin. Maybe it will sound stupid, but I really think that every idiot can buy a Rolex if he can afford it, but choosing a beautiful watch like this or other beautiful pieces presented on your channel means that you need to know a thing or two about watches, also knowing what you want for yourself at least at that particular moment in time, and the most important thing that you want to move your existence from the collective to individual, and to me this is commendable. I am sure Rolex is great, but I am not sure I would ever buy the Submariner for example as it is so recognizable and copied so many times.

2:37. Hmmm. If they 'd kept those lugs 1.5mm shorter on either side, you'd have a 46mm long (enough) watch with the most beautiful face ever and it would look more balanced (lug length versus case diameter). At 9:27 you can see there's just too much opening between the case and the strap: A bit like my Seiko SNKL23J1: An aesthetical flaw, imho :-) Another thing I would have done differently: Moved the date to the 6'o clock: There is enough room below the modelname and water resistance inscription to make it more symmetrical. Of course this is just my opinion. But if they ever make that one Peter, keep me posted! Best regards

Watch has potential, but absolutely a tapered down and bead blasted bracelet would be such a compliment. I think some of these microbrands are going a bit wrong about it. They should consult with you first Peter

I know I'm late to this but I have a question. There sure looks like there is debris on the watch face? Can you confirm? I've look at this video a few times and I swear there are little specks of something on the face or inside the crystal.

This is very interesting. Many things to like about the design, perhaps most significantly for me, the refined face of the rotating bezel. I find almost all of them too shouty or simply coarse and heavy handed, which I suppose would work 100m below sea level, but doesn't do wonders for any watch on the surface. Also, I really like the dial colour and the white on white handset and markers. Really great to look at. Shame about the lume strength. For me though, I'm not a fan of the pvd knurled finish of the bezel. From the side, that just looks a little naff, not as naff as the mismatching bracelet, but still, I'm unsure about that. The vintage leather strap gives a better visual impression. They need to change that bracelet. It's a major gripe of mine with the far majority of bracelets that ultimately the finish of how where the bracelet links to the watch is just not closely matched. It stands out in the wrong way, with few exceptions.

Hmmm… too many obvious negatives - bracelet shocking mismatch, male end links (54 extended lug to lug!) and, not mentioned, only 3 micro adjusts on a average looking clasp would on a > $700 AUD normally get labelled as a serious fail IMO. Surprised it got the thumbs up just for the (somewhat failed) design language. Hard pass for me.
