On third try, days later, I forgot the timing so I decided to note it here for myself so I don't have to rewatch the entire video every time I forget.. which is usually often ha ha. Not sure what I did wrong because honestly it's no that complicated. That being said, all of my eggs turned out soft boiled. The yolks were just barely cooked and almost runny. I'm about 100' above sea level so altitude certainly wouldn't be the issue. I guess I need to look for another method. Hate that I ruined almost a dozen eggs but these aren't edible like this.

Hey Lisa, I just bought my Instant Pot about two weeks ago and I have gone crazy making recipes in it. I love it ! I have two questions: When you press manual pressure, the "keep warm" button lights up also. Do you always leave the keep warm function on during natural pressure release ? The second question is: When you "hard boiled" the eggs, you pressed the manual pressure button. A light indicating "Normal" pressure is lit. Do you ever use the "More" or "Less" pressure function ? Thank you in advance for being patient with me...😉

I quickly powered down, replaced the ring, put the lid back on and the water was already so hot my IP immediately came to pressure. 😮 I still ended up with an amazing result! It was the first time in my entire life that I’ve ever made a perfectly cooked HBE…100% yellow yolk with no dark ring! Yay!!! I recently saw another YT video on “SOFT boiled” eggs. Tried 8 large eggs, one cup of water. 2/15/10 and basically at sea level. Whites were over cooked and rubbery. Yolk was dry and chalky. There was a slight tinge of green around the yolk denoting the formation of ferrous sulfide. (from over cooking) However I found the eggs to be super easy to peel!! :-) Did not have a bad egg in that respect. I do prefer a slightly creamy yolks. Not cooked through. A little closer to soft boil . I will try 2/10/10 for my next batch. This batch will make egg salad though. :-)

Great guide, thank you! ULTRA OWNERS, THIS WORKS! I have an insta pot ultra 8qt, never used it till today. I was not sure this would work since the water ratio for mine must be at least 2 cups to be safe according to the manual. There's not a lot of videos out there for the ultra, so I was legit afraid. I added 6 eggs to the trivet, 2 cups water and when the lid is in the locked position it automatically is set to seal (I can't forget, yay!). I set the dial for high pressure, 2 min, and made sure it was set to "keep warm", and let it do it's thing. The ultra doesn't have the "L" displayed after it's done; it will beep to signal end of cooking and begin to count up on the display (this is natural pressure release). To do the natural pressure release, setting it to "keep warm" before beginning cooking will do it. So, back to the eggs: once the display counted up to fifteen, I pressed the release valve just to be sure, took off the lid and put the eggs into the ice bath. I tested one after just a minute and it was cooked perfectly, and peeled so easily! Oh and for reference, I'm at about 300 ft. elevation.

Hi Lisa, I’ve never used an IP & I was just gifted a 3 qt Duo Nova. I’m very intimidated by this u it so I’m thinking the first thing to try and make is a few hard boiled eggs. I watched this vid and I’m curious, does it matter if there’s only 1/2 dozen eggs in it as opposed to a whole dozen? I’m sorry if this seems like a stupid question but again, I’m new to using this and I’m afraid, very afraid. I hope you’ll answer my question, if not I’ll understand & I’m gonna still try this anyway. Thanks very much and have a great weeken💕💕

Just got an Instant Pot Viva. New to Instant Pot and a little bit scared. Found your wonderful video after trying a couple of annoying others, and am very happy to say I'm making hard boiled eggs as I type. One thing though, my Viva just reads END; it isn't counting down the minutes to release. Is that because I turned off the Keep Warm button, which the manual instructed me to do when I did the 5-min water test?

Yes, your 2min cook and 15 min NR works perfectly. I only ice bath 1 min for easier peeling. The 5-5-5 is a no-no-no. If you want to take time to pin-prick eggs prior to cooking, they will never break.

Thank you for your video. Someone gave me a used Instant Pot. I followed your directions, and the appliance did not give me the L-15 count down. I used a timer, and my eggs came out perfect. thank you so much. I am a senior, but I can do hard things, lol.

Lol why would people do this? It literally takes less time to cook on your stove. 10-15min, turn off the stove and just let them sit. They're perfect. This is waaaaaaay to much work..

Having tried different methods sometimes good sometimes not, and reading several comments, I can't help wondering if this more to it than just cook time? Maybe it's partly the type of water, the age of the egg, your elevation, and ??? You have to figure out what works for you, is all I can say. I'm going to try this method now.

I did the 2 minute high pressure with the 15 minute natural release 4 times now. All 4 times I cooked 8 eggs. The first two times the eggs came out perfect, jazzed. The last two times the egg whites and yokes were very runny, confused.

I have just bought an 8qt IP and instructions say minimum of 2 cups liquid, your recipe calls fo 1 cup due to pressure concerns. Do you have a recommendation for this size pot?
