i found The Bear and the Nightingale because of this channel a year ago and it is in my top 5 books of all time !! i can't tell you how many re-reads i've done of it! i'm also a horror fan so this was a perfect cozy horror book in a way for me. LOVE IT!!! this channel is amazing.

The Winternight Trilogy is so beautiful and one of my all-time favorite series. I love the quiet strength of the women in Spinning Silver. Burial Rites is very heartbreaking but such a fantastic book. All of them are so beautifully written. I really need to read The Witch's Heart. Winter seems to be the perfect time to read slower, quieter books. Your copies of Blood Heir and Shadow and Bone are gorgeous!

Winterwood by: Shea Ernshaw is gorgeous, atmospheric, ghostly, and so so so winter-y. it's one of the best books that I have ever read. The Winter People by: Jennifer McMahon is super spooky, and cold.

I read a book called The Winter People too by Phillis Whitney, and there is snow everywhere, so it's perfect for a snowy day :) The title is a bit more about the cold nature of the people. It's a thriller with hints of possible supernatural elements occasionally and is left open to interpretation a bit.

Spinning Silver is so good! The Lion the withc and th wardrobe is of course a ckassic read in winter. I read The Dark is Rising every year from the 20 of December, as it starts that day. BBC has now made a radiotheatre of it, you can listen to this classic winter book about the battle between Light and Dark. it doenst matter its not the first book in the series, as we are introduced to Will for the first time. love the snow, the music, the magic...

I love reading seasonally, and I must say the winter is my favourite season to match books with. I love reading Polar Fantasy and historical fiction most this season. Spinning Silver is really good and the Winternight Trilogy is one of the best things I've ever read. For those who like Middle Grade, I recommend "Snow & Rose" by Emily Winfield Martin, it features gorgeous illustrations by the author herself and it's so, so beautiful.

My next three reads are A Fire Endless because I just read book 1 earlier this month and don't want to put off the next one. Then I'm jumping into my two winter themed books of Spinning Silver and The Winter Garden. I've heard the latter described as a good read for fans of The Night Circus. I hope that holds up.

The Children of the Black Sun trilogy by Jo Spurrier is so cold, atmospheric and gritty! It's also quite dark, but so good! It definitely makes you feel cold reading it

When I think of fanstasy for winter I think of cold or hard to travel situations to match being snowbound here in Minnesota. Wheel of Time starts during an unseasonably cold spring where winter doesn't seem to want to break. I also think of Dragonflight by Anee McCarffrey where "thread" makes travel dangerous or the 3rd book of Mistborn where the world is being burried.

I audibly gasped when I saw you pick up Dark of the West. I never see anyone talk about it, but I LOVED that series. I read it in 2021 after discovering it on Book Outlet and some of the scenes in books 2 and 3 still haunt me. I definitely want to re-read it at some point. I think Book 1 is the weakest which is saying something cause it's still damn great.

"What's with all of these apostrophes in the middle of words" 😆that was my exact thought last night when I picked up An Echo of Things to Come and jumped backed into The Licanius Trilogy after a long break. Within the first 20 pages I was reintroduced to words and names like Tal'kamar, Gil'shar, sha'teth and sig'nari. Dear fantasy authors, dial it back a bit with those apostrophes 😆

I would recommend The Crystal Shard by R A Salvatore for sure! First book written in the Drizzt book series and takes place in Icewind Dale! Very winter there for sure!

My most disappointing book this year is The Bear and the Nightingale... SPOILERS: I decided to pick it up in winter by many booktubers recommendations as a great read during wintertime. On the atmosphere for wintertime we can agree... But, I have not finished it and I've decided to finish it to properly rate it based on my experience. As a Christian person I'm sad at the portrayal of Christianity; the folklore is made something real in the story and pited against Christianity. And the most devoted persons are presented as the most disturbed by evil forces... For me as a believer, it is very disturbing... 😔
