I did choose this over the competition 2 months ago, Phantom Black DCT. The long wheelbase, eLSD, tight steering, stiff suspension, flat power curve, stiffer chassis...as I tell my wife, it's not one thing that makes this car stand out, it's the sum total. Add great cargo space, rear legroom, and up to 38 MPG in ECO mode, great daily driver. And everything you said about lifting from BMW is more accurate than you realize; Hyundai poached Albert Biermann (head of BMW's M division for years) to develop this car. He retired last December, so the Elantra N is his swan song.

The OG Vel N was his passion project and the Elantra N is the result of the enthusiasm to carry the N performance.

Great review! I have a Cyber Gray DCT and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a car in a really long time, maybe ever. It is the definition of affordable fun.

In my opinion I think it’s a killer, I’d love to have one and although I prefer the full control with the manual, that DCT seems pretty darn good

You really killed it with this one! Awesome review. Also, I would definitely by this over everything out right now but let's see what the new Civic Type R has in store for us.
@mistamaog2 жыл бұрын
Once the new Type R comes out, this Elantra N will definitely become more appealing. I have a feeling the new Type R is going to be over $40k, and that's before the insane mark-ups it's going to have.

This was an excellent review! Detailed, whimsical, informative, and critical. I bought a Ceramic White one about 3 weeks ago. I had to drive to LA to get it. It now has 515 miles on it, 330 of which were the road trip to drive back to Phoenix. So not only is this car great on basic street driving, it's also very comfortable and effective on road trips. I also go a 6-speed and do not regret that at all, despite the DCT being faster. I don't care, i'm an old ass man now, so I don't need to show off like 20-somethings do. Mine was sold for $33,500 + all the dumb taxes and fees.

Great review! I have the Elantra N-Line and love it! I just wished the Elantra N will come with a sunroof regardless of transmission. Plus, surprised the N does not come with wireless Car Play or wireless Android Auto and a backseat folding armrest with cupholders....something the N-Line have. I guess that is a tradeoff getting a more powerful engine. Maybe in 2024 Hyundai will add these features to the N?

Niceee, manual or dct tho? I’m having a hard time deciding
@Soul_Flow_2 жыл бұрын
@@wazewaze8185 , probably a DCT, because it is faster, has a louder more frequent pop and crackes, and I have been watching a lot of Korean reviews (i am korean), and they all said, "yes" a manual is amazing (you never go wrong with a manual!!), but most said that this wet DCT is too good to overlook. The DCT gives them same feeling of DCT from old BMW M cars, which means more visceral feeling when shifting while being instantaneous. There are some criticism on the new BMW's DCT because while its shift is instant, the shift is "too smooth" that decreases the fun of shifting gears. The Elantra N DCT seems to give you slight "thrust" when you shift (like an old BMW M cars) that adds to the fun. One reviewer said that it reminds him of lamborghini DCT (he owns many supercars), not most "refined" transmission, but raw and fun??. Plus, you get that "N Grin mode" with DCT, but not with manual.

Great review! Loved the detail. Only thing missing, and I e noticed this on a lot of other reviews, is not mentioning summer tires and will need all season or winter for colder areas. Again this seems common in a lot ofreviews. And it adds at least 1k to the car.

Unfortunately in my area, the Hyundai, Honda and VW dealerships are charging between $6k and $10k markups on all the new cars. I just picked up my 2022 WRX at MSRP the other day. I still really like the Elantra but until the car companies start fighting these skeesy dealers I don't think I have much hope of getting one anytime soon.
