We went on a cruise in 2010 to Ketchikan, Skagway, and Juneau via Seattle WA and back through BC. The thing remember the most was the clean fresh air. We only had a few hours in Juneau. You all had a lot of time there. I also went into the Red Dog Saloon. From the look of your video there, it has not changed. We went in September and September was the last call for Skagway for Carnival Cruise Lines.

Happy Birthday Dawn! What a great day in Juneau on your birthday! I didn't know that the only way you can get to Juneau is by boat or plane. What an amazing town with the mountain glaciers, waterfalls, the quaint town. The tram ride was just breathtaking! That sunset!! Everything looked golden. The view of Juneau, the channel and your cruise ship from on top was amazing. It was indeed a perfect day. Felt like I was right there with you. Absolutely loving this adventure!

Such an easy glacier to get to from town. We almost walked upon a bear the first time we went. Walking to the falls is phenomenal-much larger than it looks from afar!!!! The museum is really cool and you really learn a lot from their exhibits. Hoping to return this year. One of God’s most beautiful places on earth. Just takes your breath away!

Yes! Standing on the beach at the base of Nugget Falls was a highlight of my cruise! I want to explore all of those trails.

I think the whale y’all showed from the deck of the ship on the first day was a killer whale. The deep black color and long fin.

And I want to ride that tram! There’s just not enough time to see everything. I did “meet” Patsy Ann, though. She was so famous in the 1930s that when her statue was commissioned, people from around the world sent bits of their own dogs’ hair to be added to the bronze.

You made a good choice with the Holland cruise. Their quality of food is much better than many ships and I’ve been on a few different ones. I took Norwegian to Alaska and the food is so so but I know that the quality of food on Holland is much better and I can see by what you are showing. The ship interior seems higher quality too. You made a good choice.

My mother and i flew in a helicopter and landed on the glacier. I found it a challenge to find gifts "Made in Alaska " and not China.

1:54 - 1:59 ... "Oh boy ... don't want to run into that guy either." Actually, you did ... if that wolf was still alive. Thats the memorial to "Romeo: The Friendly, Lonely, Black Wolf of Juneau". He was a kind, friendly, "lone-pack" wolf that lived near the Mendenhall Glacier, and got along with many people, tourists, and their dogs who would come to visit him. He was there in that area from like 2002-2009, and people would come up with their dogs to see him during the winter, and Romeo would play with them and enjoy the company ... the wolf was just lonely and wanted companionship. He was named "Romeo", and the name stuck. Tragically and Sadly ... he died in 2009, when he was illegally hunted and killed by two poachers. Both were arrested, and had their hunting licenses revoked for an extended period of time. A memorial for the wolf was held in 2010, and a very nice memorial plaque was revealed in dedication to him, near the end of the Nugget Falls trail. That memorial in the Mendenhall visitor center was completed about 5 or 6 years ago. Thats Romeo's "taxidermized" body and pelt ... his howls are recorded on a wand there ... and it also has his bronze paw print. A very nice & thoughtful tribute to a wonderful, friendly wolf. If you wanna know more, or read up about the details of this story, I highly recommend reading the book "A Wolf Called Romeo" by wildlife photographer Nick Jans, who documented many moments during Romeo's life span. Great book, that will surely bring a tear to your eye.

On the trail to the waterfall at Mendehall, there’s a memorial to a friendly wild wolf who used to play with local dogs and and was called Romeo. A poacher shot him. 😢 Nobody knows why the wolf was so friendly with dogs, they think he might have been pushed out of his pack as a young adult and sought out canine company. Such a shame that he was killed.
