Just fyi, it looks like the 700 comes with an adjustable stem now. They have the stem listed as "PROMAX Adjustable 0-60° 60mm 31.8mm Bar Clamp" for the ST and "PROMAX Adjustable 0-60° 90mm 31.8mm Bar Clamp" for the XR version on their site.

I just installed the adjustable stem today, and wanted to post a word of caution. On the surface it seems like it would be really straightforward to put the adjustable stem on. I just want to point out that the core 5 uses a compression or split ring to hold the bearings in. Not exactly the greatest design in my opinion. I think the 500 series and up they have a different design that uses a retaining ring. Anyway the problem is when you loosen up and remove the old stem there is an opportunity for that compression ring to pop loose and now you just created a bunch of slop or play in the fork. I had no idea what happened on mind and ended up disassembling the entire fork, checking videos online, etc. All you really need to do is make sure the fork tube is centered in the opening, but just the weight of the bike will probably put it at and angle and pop that compression ring out, and if you don't know better (like I did not) you could create yourself a big headache. The tube has to be centered or you will introduce slop. And after installing the adjustable stem, I just about say you're better off with an extension stem or post instead. You'll actually get a little greater height. The reviews on these adjustable stems talk about the screws loosening quite often. That's not the case with the extension post. And while this adjustable extension brings the handlebars slightly forward, it's really minimal. I doubt most people would even notice any difference. I think for about $11 you can get an extension stem. Careful out there, and If you're not mechanically inclined, I'd have a bike shop to this. Not hard to do, but easy to screw up too.

I’m not sure if you seen a handlebar riser before but you can get them on Amazon for about $15. They have two different kinds one or raise the handlebars about 4 inches then they have another one that will raise it about 7 inches which might be too much in your situation. I have the one that’s 4 inches of rise on my E bike and love it. You can also use that adjustable handlebar stem with it.

I ordered the wrong diameter for the connection to the Core-5 handlebars, they are thick bars and I needed 31.8 x110mm, be careful when you order, there are 4 sizes here, also wanted the longest stem at 110mm, I returned 25.4 x110mm, more appropriate for road bikes: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086V2W9JX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks for the video. I have watched several of your videos and have found them very helpful when choosing a bike. I went with the Core 5 because of its sleek lines and larger motor. Being a bigger guy, I figured I would need all the help I could get after 20+ years of not riding. The Lectric and the Stride were on my short list also. Quick question: did you try mounting that extender 180 toward the rider? Would it bring the bars too close? Thank you!

Hey Randal, thanks for your vids. Any chance you can do a shootout vid between the LectricXP and the R1up 700? I wasnt considering the LectricXP until I saw your comparison video between it and the Core5. Like you, Im particularly interested in the comfort of the ride between these two bikes especially with the handlebars.
@randallunsford94354 жыл бұрын
I’ll try to get that video done. I just got off a long ride on the 700 and had a good ride early this morning on the XP. If money is a factor, it is hard to justify the price difference to get the 700. Buy the XP, add a Suntour NCX suspension seat post, a cloud 9 seat and some slightly wider/swept back handle bars...and you’d have a comfortable, fast, versatile bike for about $1k. With the 700, I’d still recommend a seat, suspension post, and an adjustable stem. You’d be out around $1600. If that extra $600 is not a big deal to you, go 700...it is a slightly nicer bike. But you’ll have just as much fun on the XP with $600 still in your pocket. Also, it might keep you from having to buy a rack.
@k.chrisrachalphdmpabn77134 жыл бұрын
@@randallunsford9435 Makes sense. Thanks. Money not an obstacle but being able to avoid the bike rack is a plus! Now waiting to see how the XT step thru does in comparison. I understand the battery is different. Which slightly wider/swept back handle bars did you put on your XP? Thanks again.
