I think I've watched every Blender irradiance volume video on KZbin but without getting negative with other content creators, just thank you so much. I had some really simple questions that nobody was covering and in this video, you hit ALL of the basic key components. Thank you.

I have been using Blender for several years now and your tutorials have given me so much insight into modeling and lighting. Every so often you slip in some basic tool I wasn't aware of that makes life so much easier. Now if I only had some artistic talent.

we are headed to real time GI via Vulkan for EEVEE.
@arianullah62574 жыл бұрын
Hope one day EEVEE gets real time GI like Godot 4.0 and Unreal Engine 5
@deprilula284 жыл бұрын
Neither of those have real GI
@kettenotter4 жыл бұрын
deprilula28 I would say UE5 has real GI. It’s not completely raytraced but that doesn’t mean the results have to be worse. I couldn’t really tell a difference between full raytracing except that there was no noise but a tiny bit of delay.

Another approach would be automated detection of probes which are inside objects and taking them of from interpolation, and maybe automated distribution of probes evenly, not in ortho grid.

SBGL is an add-on for EEVEE and I think it’s implemented one on of the versions of blender. It does real time global illumination like Cycles but it does by using screen based sampling

It's a useful skill to have. You never know when you might use software that doesn't have global illumination.
@alejmc4 жыл бұрын
Didn’t know Blender had these. Indeed, on other softwares it’s easy create custom scripts that setup the lightprobes to be culled out if they happen to be inside geometry (blender could add a collider temporarily to the objects and check if a light probe is inside), or to project them out towards the geometry surface or follow the floor. Would be great if these were added to avoid all the drawbacks related to that.

for the static parts of your scene, at least for the diffuse, you can just UV unwrap and bake the lighting to a texture using cycles, then use that as an emission/shadeless texture for your materials using Eevee can probably do even better using complex node setups though, would be cool if there was like a one-click 'bake spherical-gaussian lightmaps' or something, like you might use in a game engine
@Ponlets Жыл бұрын
issue with that is then the baked texture wont effect characters or dynamic props though static shadows will look better when baked with cycles

Radiosity is the next big step for realtime raytracing, or at least for EEVEE. A simply matter of adding light bounces along the same lines of thought as reflections in raytracing. I would expect it by Ver 2.91.

Aren't you able to create 1x1x1 probe with custom falloff and place it every where. It might, actually, be possible to create an Animation Node setup to fill the room with such probes with fallofs and that doesn't intersect through geometry
