I have spent a lot of time on the Blue Ridge Parkway on my motorcycles. I especially enjoy the section that runs from Asheville to Cherokee but all of it is nice. I tell people that I feel closer to God while I'm on my motorcycle on the parkway than I ever have in church. People who have seen me ride say they can understand why!

Just to add, this was a great episode Liz and Dennis. I’m not sure I’d do the hiking as one I’m too old, and two, not sure I’d like those heights. 😳 But otherwise what a fantastic area of your country. I’m really enjoying seeing the USA through your travels and adventures, there’s so many awesome places I would never have realized were there. Thanks as always for sharing, Peace and Calm. 👍🏻😎🇨🇦

Wow! Small world. Not sure when you filmed this but we were at Julian Price campground on the 21st of October in our Leisure Travel Van Unity FX and were lucky enough to get Site 1a on the lower loop on a first come basis when someone canceled. Note on future stays there is decent wifi down at the Marina on the lake where they rent Kayaks, although our WIFI Ranger Everest would not pick it up so we had to walk down there and sit on the dock. Like you, we did the skyline drive the week before in Virgina and NOTHING was changing. Headed down to Ashville after Boone to meet some friends for the weekend and there was NOTHING. Finally got lucky the last week in October in the Smoky Mountains before giving up on a very strange foliage season and heading home to Dallas for Halloween. Took our LTV through dragons tail in the Smoky's. That was a blast! You should try it in that Scooter.

So cool! Thanks again for doing the stuff we can't do physically...allows us to enjoy these views! Oh...and did you know that cougars PURR? Yup, they are technically part of the small cat family so they can purr. I got to visit a sanctuary like the one you did several years back as an "insider" and got very close to a cougar and was startled when she started to purr...that's when I found out that, just like house cats, cougars purr when they like you! LOL! Glad you had such a great time there and got to see so much of Fall, even with the rain.

We were in Asheville a few weeks ago and were amazed at how many cars & people were there for the fall colors. That Grandfather hike looked pretty crazy! You got to hear the elk! Others are super cute - we saw a couple in the McCloud River in CA and we saw a cougar in a campground in CA too - a bit frightening actually.

Great video. Loved Grandfather Mountain. That looked difficult with the latter climbing up and then down then the low rock. I always say low bridge whenever we go under something like that. That was cute seeing the bear abs eagles and otter and a cougar. When I see a cougar I think of two things Disney used to show on tv wild animals like that and # 2 Ford used cell Mercury and they’re commercial was with a cougar and they said Ford Mercury sound of the cat. Beautiful scenery and nice fall colors. Hope you have a great night and week and travel safe. See you soon!

Before the tourists came, she was there. We, I an outlander, she a native of the Smokies, courted there before the big roads came and when the Smokies were almost inaccessible. Those trees are endless, deep, dark and truly wild. Do not go off trail in the Smokies. It is shocking to realize that this is not a casual afternoon drive. Try to image what this would have been like if you were a student in a tiny k12 school and all activities were miles and miles away over endlessly curving two lane roads. The parkway is a vision of what was then. I found her there, loved her for 60+ years. Those mountains were the things we saw every day.

This is beautiful Rob. Thank you for sharing, I love hearing stories like yours! I daydream of what it must have been like to be in the times that you discribe. Unfortunately for me I grew up through the 90's long after the wild was developed away in central florida. This is a weight I feel every time we find a beautiful place with even a foggy vision of what used to be (why couldn't it have stayed that way). Cherish and revisit those wonderful memories every chance you get because you are far more fortunate than I to have lived them and not have to image. - D PS Keep telling us youngsters your stories about the beautiful times.
