We've done a LOT of scenic byways but never one as epic as the Blue Ridge Parkway! This 469 mile road connects Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. We towed our camper top to bottom over the course of about four days.

In an old Studebaker we courted up there, high into NC. Good grief she was true to her raising. a pure mountain girl what a treat, and then married for more than 60 years. I miss her something awful. And pretty, and so smart. She took me high into the Smokies and then claimed me. What a delight. And now I am without her.

The trip leading from the Pennsylvania turnpike to the Blue Ridge Parkway and into the Great Smokey Mountain National Park pulling our eighteen foot RV was one of our favorite vacations! We would reference that as a favorite all the way up the time my wife passed away in 2014. Your video is a great reminder of the good time we had both on the Parkway and in the National Park. In the park, we camped right at a brook tumbling over some rocks allowing us to fall asleep to that music and wake up to it again in the mornings. The Parkway and the National Park made a wonderful vacation for both of us!!! THANK YOU FOR THE REMINDER!!!

Nice overview of the BRP and hitting the highlights. At Graveyard Fields, about 1/4 from the little bridge is a 40ft waterfall with a nice area to view it. Also Looking Glass Falls a few miles south of the BRP is a can’t miss spot as well as the Pisgah Inn area. Both would be packed in the fall.

And 2:40 seconds in, you have nailed exactly why we got rid of our adorable 2005 trailer and now why we have a 2018 Winnebago Travato Van. I do miss the little extra room we had in our 18 foot trailer. Even though the van is 21 feet. Now when it says no RV’s I am like…I’m a van and in we go! I like the van, but liked the trailer too.
@WorkinfortheWild

Glad to see you’re utilizing Harvest Host. Don’t forget to buy some alpaca socks one day! Our school year home base is in WNC. If you pass through again, I’d camp at Julian Price Lake Campground so that you can be trailer-less to go to The Chalet in Little Switzerland for lunch with an amazing view. You can also spend the day (or more) in Blowing Rock. So much to do in the cute mountain towns in WNC.

Take Me Home, Country Roads. Excellent video as always. We for the most part did the same as you all up to the blue ridge parkway. For that reason I can vouch you nailed it. This was my first travels back east. Bar Harbor RV park. Lets see not a bee sting but rather my husband got a tick bite. Yikes!! I tried not to scream but the thing was lodged into his upper thigh. The crowds were crazy. Loved Shenandoah National Park (sky-ridge road). We did head back west to Colorado. Looking forward to your next video. You are now plowing new ground for me. Oh, love the hats.

@@WorkinfortheWild We were. My ears perked up when you mentioned it. Nice laundry. We took the L.L Bean sponsored bus (shuttle). Crowded. We also drove the less crowded Schoodic Peninsula drive. I wasn’t sure if you could tow a travel trailer on the blue ridge parkway but I guess you can. Are there campgrounds along the rt? Anything I should no in advance before we consider taking that Rt?

I’m going to do this drive hopefully by the end of May! I had my ex girlfriend break up with me for someone else last year than my pet caught cancer and passed away an immediately after we found out my mom had terminal cancer an had only months left to live an she passed away so it’s been a very hard year and I usually go on a road trip once a year an last year I didn’t go had too much going on an since my birthday is May 15 I’m going to go for my birthday! All the way from NJ the Jersey Shore where the show was filmed going to camp at the beginning of the Parkway in Virginia an take 2 days to drive down the parkway and camp one night along the way until I hit Asheville or Cherokee.. And maybe when I’m done if I feel up to it go down to St.Augustine FL to visit my friend for a few days than drive the 1000 miles back home to NJ… Me and my ex GF were supposed to take this drive together down the Blue Ridge and go to the Gatlinburg Sky Bridge but she left me for someone else so it’s going to stir up some emotions going on this trip but I need it after what I’ve been through all of 2023… Thanks for the video there aren’t many out there about the Blue Ridge I’m going to try and film my own video to post as well and might buy a camera to take good photos as well
