Works great if you pay attention to instructions. kzbin.infoUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia For those that complain about "mushy" or "wet" rice I suspect they are using the included cup to measure rice (which is really only 3/4 cup) and then putting in water using a separate measuring cup that is a full cup. This results in too much water and you will get mushy or wet rice and think it is not done. Just use the included cup for both rice and water, or your own measuring cup for rice and water according to your package directions. It will come out fine. I've used mine for years for brown and white rice. If your machine is bubbling white froth out of the steam vent then it means you should have rinsed your brand of rice first to remove some of the starch. Sheesh. Makes me wonder how people can cook well enough to feed themselves.

I and my mother made this twice now and it came out fine. When you keep it for about five minutes after adding rice to the golden onion mixture, before adding water, and before going to the cook mode again, it comes out great. This happened to us by accident in the second time. But I want to know one thing. Is it alright to add 'rose water' to this. Is rose water poison. If not if it is ok, at what stage and in what proportions must I add rose water.
@Recipesaresimple9 жыл бұрын
Mihindu Pulukkody Yes it is true. After sautéing the rice, you can switch of the rice cooker for a while.. And just add water when you need to.. The rice is more aromatic this way. I mention this on the website. Rose water can be added, it is perfectly fine if it is a good rose water ( not essence). Add a few drops after the cooking is done and while fluffing up the rice. Thanks for trying!

Recipesaresimple Would it taste like biryani then? They put rose water to biryani I think in Muslim restaurants. If not what should we add to make it taste like biryani.

Recipesaresimple Is this the same rose water that is used in deva poojas and bohdi poojas? If not then what should we use?
@Recipesaresimple9 жыл бұрын
Mihindu Pulukkody Not sure what type of rose water is used for Poojas.. Here's is a link to a popular brand used in cooking shop.khanapakana.com/ahmed-rose-water-8-45-fl-oz-250-ml/

Mihindu Pulukkody To make a Biryani flavored rice, without adding chicken/mutton etc... you can try the following. Ingredients: 1 cup rice 1 rounded spoon ghee 1 onion, thinly sliced 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 Tbsp ginger, minced tiny stick cinnamon 2 cloves 2 cardamom pods 1/2 tsp tomato puree (not paste but puree- you can use canned tomato puree) 1 Tbsp grated carrot 1 pandan leaf(screwpine), knotted - of available or use 1 Tbsp curry leaves 2 cups water 1/4 cup evaporated milk salt to taste - about 3/4 tsp 1/4 tsp rose water or you can also use Kewra water. 1 Tbsp pineapple, chopped. Method: Heat ghee in rice cooker.Saute onions till golden. Add the garlic, ginger, cinamon, cloves, cardamom. Saute well.Add tomato puree, stir and then add carrot.Add pandan leaf or curry leaves. Cook 1 minute.Add the rice and fry till very fragrant. Switch off cooker and allow to rest.Turn cooker back on after 30 min - 1 hour.Add water and bring to boil. Add salt.Add the evaporated milk. Cover and cook till water runs dry. Fluff up the rice with a fork. Add the pineapple slices while rice is very hot.(TURN OFF the Rice Cooker - do not keep on warm setting ot the bottom layer of rice will become crisp)Remove the rice to a serving platter and sprinkle the Kewra Essence evenly through out the fluffed rice.Also add the yellow food coloring, if desired and toss so that you gets specks of yellow throughout the rice.Or you can soak saffron in a spoon of hot milk at the beginning and add this to the rice at the end.

Garlic should be added after the onions, not before, right?
@Recipesaresimple8 жыл бұрын
+Joey Suggs the garlic added is a very small amount and needs to get fragrant before adding the onion ( not brown) this a a trick to make the rice especially fragrant.
@xtusvincit52308 жыл бұрын
I see. Just thought it might burn.
@Recipesaresimple8 жыл бұрын
+Joey Suggs with the amount of onions used, the moisture prevents the garlic from burning. Ofcourse, you have to stir it to prevent it from Browning too. Also, the garlic is added as the ghee is heating up( not too hot)
