Totally out of sync with what had just happened - but it makes sense if they were trying to protect someone else. Remember, John Andrew Ramsey (that's John's son from his first marriage, for anyone who doesn't know) was asked what the killer deserves and he said, "Forgiveness." They asked him again, and he repeated his answer, "Forgiveness." No way would anyone say that 2 weeks after the murder of his sister, UNLESS he knew who the killer was.

@MrsMommy6109: The mother lived through her daughter. In one book I read, JonBenet's grandmother (Patsy's mother) said to her: "JonBenet, you WILL do it. It's your job." She was referring to her participating in beauty pageants and that she would continue to do them even when she began to shy away from them. This speaks volume. Read "A Mother Gone Bad" by Andrew G. Hodges...he speaks greatly on JonBenet and Patsy's relationship.

I don't buy estranger theories, who ever did it, have knowledge and oportunity at hand. Without DNA, I would start investigating the very first point - "the entrance". The broken window gives us an important clue. It was broken by Mr Ramsey not an intruder - when did this happened? because if there were marks on doors showing an attemp to brake in, then the window would have been discovered and used by the intruder. However, it dies not appeared to have been used at all. The spider-web is an obsticle to the theory. If we don't use the window, then we move to the alternative - who have keys to the house? I support this theory. Who ever had keys (any one close to him/her) could have obtained a copy. This is important and should be investigated. I would create a list of names and follow my investigation from it. I think there is where the answer is. From the list I would look into different criteria: who could know about the whereabouts of the family? their routines? Who have familiarity with the house? How many of these point at one person. Then comes motive. The note gives us important clues - much of it seem PERSINAL. And the expressions, did they come from movies? That is a clue by itself. The light torch was upstairs. However, I belief it was used last -and downstairs in the dark room. Why bring it upstairs? Why not using the window to escape? Because the intruder used a key and exit through the door. We must investigate those with access to the keys. Jonbennet was probably eating pineapple when the intruder confronted her. He used the stangun first, took her downstairs, tied her up, garroted her in the dark, and hit her over the head to end it. Why covering her? Because this was not an stranger. Why was the blanket downstairs, because Johbennet probably brought it to the kitchen herself - it was December and it was her special blanket. So the intruder did not exit through the window, that is why the torch is upstairs. Now the note have some issues. When was it writen is only important if it can help us narrow the list of suspects. If it was written before the murder, the intruder was in the house before they came back. Then the reason to brake-in was Jonbennet - possibly sexually motivated The ramson was only a cover (not much money was being asked for). This makes me think about some one not very wealthy, otherwise they would have used a much bigger a sum. Still this was just a cover. Could the intruder have gone upstairs to get Jonbennet? Very unlikely, for one the risk is too high, and at what point did the child eat pineapple? It seems Jonbennet went downstairs by herself. Why was the note left behind if the intruder has killed the child, and exit the house through the door? Because at that point he/she was in an adrenaline high only focusing on escaping. No foot prints on the snow by the window- the intruder used a door. The note indicates a kind of attitude towards Mr Ramsey, not his wife. Who had personal issues, jealousy, resentment, against Mr Ramsey? I would focus my entire investigation on WHO HAVE ACCESS TO KEYS? From a LIST OF NAMES I would examin: their whereabouts around that day, who was connected to them -that could have obtain a copy of the keys, how much information they have about the family, possible motives (incidents, comments, arguments, etc) I would examin letters, emails, interview people at Ramsey's company, friends, anything that could indicate a motive. Then I would mach the suspects to other things like the foot print, the note, etc.

I sincerely believe that JonBenet being in beauty pageants led to her death. I read in Globe magazine of this year that whoever killed this little angel was obsessed with her because they found a doll that looked just like her lying in the basement next to her deceased body and the doll dressed just like her. They're close to finding the killer, thank God.

@rainbowberry1 they still have not figured it out, which I think is CRAZY. It doesn't make any sence. I did this mystery for a project this year for my forensics class and really looked into it. I still can't figure out who it would be. It would have been someone JonBenet felt comfortable with, because the killer woke her up, got her a toy, walked her downstairs, fed her pinapples, and then stunned her before taking her to the basement......its just a REALLY WIERD mystery....

Personally, I think it was the butler or gardener.Maybe the postman.Maybe it never happened at all - its just a promo for getting more TV ratings. so many possibilities, and probably all wrong However, not earching the house properly in the first place makes me think..and why leave a body in the house where it will probably be found before the money is taken out of the bank....all sounds like crap to me.Same as Madeline McCann. JonBenet was not strangled and then beaten. She was hit on the head first, a blow that nearly cracked her skull in half, but which did not bleed outside her head. She was unconscious or nearly so after that. Within 2 hours after the head blow, a cord was put around her neck and tightened until she stopped breathing. But in any case, the killer was one of the 3 Ramseys alive that morning of 12/26. Or maybe more than one.

No pedophile-killer is going to write an absurd 3-page ransom note at the scene, and no kidnapper-for-ransom is going to strangle and beat the child to death, and then leave the body in the house. Those are the fundamental things that don't add up, and they point to a staged crime scene.
