Me and my friend have been going back and forth with snowball recipes every christmas for the last several years. I made them as a kid and I remember throwing everything in 1 pot on the stove after the butter/milk/sugar started to boil, adding vanilla extract , no candy thermometer and being able to roll them as soon as they cooled may be 1/2 hour, no refrigeration to wait for them to be firm enough to roll. They turned out perfect everytime, ffwd 30ish yrs of never making them, trying to make them now seems so much more difficult to get the right texture. She is trying your recipe right now and will let me know.

Nan used tinned milk but any will do.
