You once thrifted a large handbag with various pockets, and stashed your thrifted breakables in it, Ever since, Ive been taking a large unused quilted Vera B bag with me to use as a shopping tote. I fill it with a handful of bubble mailers to use for glass and pottery items. Thanks for the tip of using a padded handbag, You should keep doing it. Makes a big difference.

I use a couple of large canvas bags and thrifted receiving blankets. I use the blankets to keep the glassware from rattling and rubbing against each other in the cart and then I can use them to wrap the item to put in the canvas bags at checkout. It all fits in one bag and my thrift store appreciates it that they dont have to wrap it all in paper.

I really like the fact that you mix it up with Goodwills and antique shops. I'm really learning to enjoy your antique shopping nowadays; realizing how creative and artistic people are back in the early 1800s and 1900s. Some of the glass art dishes, pottery, vases and so on are so amazing!!!

Jocelyn, when I go thrifting, I have a large hand towel I bought at a thrift store and I leave it in my car and when I get to the thrift store, I lay it down in the cart so my items don’t shift a lot when pushing the cart. Maybe you can borrow a towel or baby blanket from the thrift store and when you check out, tell them you decided you didn’t want the towel/blanket and they’ll take it back…😊 or purchase it to use whenever you go thrifting. I wrote my initials on the towel and wrote “thrifting towel” on it so they know it’s mine and not stolen…lol. I love the pitcher with the glasses and the bagel tray. Very nice 👍❤️

As a bookseller for many years, I have a lot of stories about the ones that got away. Lots of regrets for things that I passed on that turned out to be gems. I'd like to see you do a whole episode about the ones that got away and that just make you sting with regret for not taking a risk. I think it would be an inciteful video. Love the Goodwill hunts more than the antique mall scouts...I like it when a treasure pops out at you for pennies.
@carltonthepug2 жыл бұрын
I agree with goodwill hunts being better than the antique mall. I can’t see myself paying the prices at the antique mall. If I cannot make 300% markup on an item I’m not buying it. Even when you make double EBay fees kick in. Not worth it for me.

The crying mug in the intro was sold in CVS a few years back. (I recognize it.) 04:10 Lox and bagels platter. You have to live in a Jewish area to see a lot of them. They're for Sabbath breakfast when you're not allowed to cook. ( Back in the day I went to three Synagogue rummage sales every year, unless there were four.)

The fact that the silhouette pictures had no zip code on the company address means it was before 1964 when zip codes were used. That's at least 60 years old, on film they were well matted, and looked good.
