Terrific demo, with really clear explanations. Just minutes ago I noticed that Origin Effects released these IRs. I was in process of finding one of your recent YTs so I could post a comment asking if you'll be doing a demo, and here you are!! This package of free IRs covers a very broad range of tones, as you have ably demonstrated. Nice work, as always, Alex.

Thanks again, Slide! Glad I supplied the video for the inquiry. The IRs sound good in lots of different applications and the fact they are free is crazy. Hope you're doing well!

Nice demo as always. I use the revival drive and i want to pair it with a (small) power amp into a real cab or FRFR. But also go DI to FOH. Any suggestions? I only used to play tube amps but want to go in a new (portable) direction, like vacuum tubes, preferable all analog and not digital. As long as it sounds good, the revivaldrive does a lot making it feel like an tubeamp
@SuperdangerStudios3 ай бұрын
The headrush frfr cabs have a mix out that you could use. They sound great. If you have a cab you already like the fryette ps2a is an amazing load box and power amp that has so many functions. It’s expensive but top of the line. Or you could get a Seymour Duncan power station and get a splitter box or DI to send to FOH.

Sounds great, any opinion on whether the Revival Drive, IR loader & room reverb would cut the mustard in a live setting going direct..? Would it be comparable to using a HX stomp or an Iridium for example ? Thanks
@SuperdangerStudios3 ай бұрын
It would absolutely work in that situation. You can even bring a power amp or powered fr cab and run it like an amp too. The revival drive works best as an overdriven amp though so cleans aren’t as easy to dial in. However it feels like a real amp when you are driving it hard.

Sounds great, especially the AC30+Tele How are you hearing it in the room? I can never get it sound good though speakers although it records very well
@SuperdangerStudios3 ай бұрын
I am monitoring it through the yamaha hs7s. I found adding the room reverb as you monitor makes it sound so much better. What do you have on your channel strip?
@eddieholmes32363 ай бұрын
Thanks! Perhaps I just need better speakers. I'll look into the Yamahas. I use IRs through the IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 software. I just get a severe buffering issue when I connect to external speakers of any type. That said, I tend to use amps far more than modellers.

Hi question. What is the order of the pedals? Is the ir pedal always last in line in the actual fysical pedals? So your strymon goes into your Ir pedal, and then to your computer? Ir pedals are new to me 😅.
@SuperdangerStudios3 ай бұрын
Yes just think of the IR as where the mic would meet a speaker. In most situations you would have the effects prior to your amp and maybe some modulation and reverbs after the amp but before the speaker. However, if you want a more studio sound, you can put your time based effects (reverb/delay) after the IR as well. I typically use it this way: Compression>drive/boost pedals>Modulation>Strymon Iridium>Strymon Flint>IRs.

What are the benefits to having a real amp --> Suhr reactor --> IR versus let's say just a digital amp modeler --> IR? Can you feel a difference between a real amp in IR vs digital amp into an IR? Does it make sense to buy a real amp just to plug it into an IR?
@SuperdangerStudios3 ай бұрын
I think if you already have an amp, its a great way to be able to turn it up without shaking the windows. The feel is somewhat comparable, but the biggest difference is the way amps handle gain and compression. Really hard to model it well. But I happily use either depending on the situation. But if I didn't play out and could only buy 1, id go for a modeler or an origin effects pedal.

How do they compare to York Audio?
@SuperdangerStudios3 ай бұрын
Different flavors for sure. These new OE IRs are impeccable though. I love the magnatone and the modern boutique IRs. Since they are free its a no brainer to own them. That being said, the York Audio Bassman is still one of my favorites.
