You are correct keeping Skubal doesn't help the Tigers get to the playoffs the next couple of years. The O's knows that as well, I hear it everyday in Baltimore. The O's won't give away the farm, otherwise it would have happen buy now. I believe that their best offer will be Basallo, Norby and Trace Bright and maybe they eat most of Baez contract.

Basallo as the primary asset in that deal is laughable, Catching prospects are like NHL goalie prospects, wildly unpredictable even if they are projected to be amazing, plus the dude can’t receive the ball so he’s a future first baseman, we’d be getting totally effed in that trade, no thanks, now if you offered up Mayo as the primary asset and threw in Bassallo and gave us Norby or Mc dermott then we’d have a deal. You could also remove Bassallo from the deal altogether, and offer us Mc dermott and Norby plus another pitching prospect of our choosing, then we’d also have a deal. Also keep Baez’s dead contract out of the deal, don’t want to degrade any potential return.

@@ashepherd39675 that’s fine. Skubal would be great but the Os don’t NEED him in the same way the Tigers don’t Need to get rid of him. Which is why I think this discussion is pointless and don’t think the trade happens. Elias has always been pretty conservative and doesn’t make trades out of desperation. My guess is that he would be more inclined to trade for a #2-3 type of starter to round out the playoff rotation and be able to keep his top prospects at the same time.

@@invertedtube I’m not sure that’s completely the case with the Tigers and Skubal. I think if they were really in a need of selling Skubal they would be open to our other packages that we could put together. We could send them volume of like 6 guys that wouldn’t include out top 3 that blow the doors off anything else any other team could put together. I don’t think the Tigers really want to part with Skubal unless they can get someone to basically “overpay” and not that it would necessarily be over paying as he’s a great pitcher but the O’s don’t NEED to give in to that right now.

Could not agree more. Everyone is acting like Skubal is a better pitcher than Corbin Burnes and should command more in a trade. This is literally his first good season in the bigs and he’s had two major elbow injuries already where a third injury could result in the end of his career. I’m glad the tigers are being so stingy about him because I don’t want him at all. I’ll take him if the best prospect we give up is Kyle Stowers. I don’t even want to lose Norby. I’m okay with Mountcastle and/or Mullins departing from Baltimore, as well as Hays, Mateo and Urias, but I thoroughly look forward to Cowser and Kjerstad performing to their 2nd/5th overall draft capabilities, Holliday performing to a Lindor capability offensively and Mayo performing like Rooker in Oakland. That being said, check out this lineup: 1. Holliday 2B 2. Rutschman C 3. Henderson SS 4. Santander RF 5. O’Hearn 1B 6. Kjerstad LF 7. Westburg 3B 8. Cowser CF 9. Mayo DH And btw, if the Orioles see the World Series this year, win or lose, Corbin Burnes signs with the Orioles this winter no question. And, Bradish, Means and Felix Bautista return next year, so that lineup with Burnes, Bradish, Rodriguez, Means as your October 4-man rotation, Cano and Bautista(6 out closer)anchoring the back end. If the Orioles sign Tanner Scott in the offseason, this is the most complete team in baseball going into the playoffs next year, without much changing for the next 5-10 years. Lineup filled with 2, 3 and 4 hitters, 4 starters with ace level stuff and the reliever of the year closing the door 6 outs at a time, especially in the big games. If the Orioles made a move for Mason Miller instead of Skubal or anyone else, this team is the scariest team we’ve seen in a long time. And that’s why there’s absolutely no way Holliday, Mayo and Basallo are leaving the Orioles this year. Burnes is our guy for the future and we will lock him in after a deep October run this year, bc let’s be real, what team in the AL is able to compete with Baltimore in 5-7 games? Home field advantage with Burnes and Rodriguez going games 1, 2, 5 & 6 against NY, Boston, Minnesota, Seattle, Cleveland, KC or Houston. The only real threat there is Houston and if we have a couple guys get hot and/or we get to their LHP starters, we beat them as well, but no matter what, a game 7 loss in the ALCS still brings Burnes back next year bc he knows there’s no better organization in baseball to latch yourself onto if your primary focus is to win the World Series which is absolutely Corbin’s primary focus, but the Orioles will match any offer regardless bc that’s exactly how the new ownership will prove that they’re not fking around at all. It couldn’t be a more tailor made situation for the new guard of Baltimore. Sign Burnes, extend Santander and O’Hearn this offseason, bring in Scott or something comparable, and all they have to do is continue to extend all the young players we already have over the years and the Orioles dominate the AL East, and AL overall for the next decade, firmly replacing the cheating Houston Astros and bringing several WS titles to Baltimore. Stay stingy Detroit, please STAY STINGY with your completely unproven talent in Skubal, please keep him. PLEASE. I’ll take Miller over Skubal in a HEARTBEAT!

Coby Mayo is priority #1 for me. We already have a pair of homegrown teenage SS (both LH hitters) on the farm so I'm not all that worried about Holliday. In fact, I would even take Mayo and Connor Norby for Tarik Skubal because we don't have ANY good RH bats on the farm system currently. This could be the top five of your 2025 Detroit Tigers lineup.... #1 - Connor Norby #2- Riley Greene #3 - Colby Mayo #4 - Kerry "Bonds" Carpenter #5 - Colt Keith PS - If you trade away Skubal, the Tigers can call up Jobe who looks like the future Ace anyway.

I disagree. Kevin McGonigle has actually played SS very well so far in the minors, and he's a 300 hitter. He will be in the big leagues sometime in 2026.

Detroit is giving him the chance to play SS, mostly because they don’t have anyone better, but most scouting reports doubt he will remain at SS. He will move to 2B, Keith to 1B (if Torkelson can’t make it back), or LF.

Matt is High if he thinks the Orioles would trade Holiday, Mayo and Basso. At best they could get Holiday, Norby and Stowers. Also, it he thinks the Orioles can resign Corbin Burnes what makes him think the Tigers can resign Skubil. A case could be made that Mayo would be the #1 pros prospect in baseball if he didn't get hurt earlier in the season and if Holiday didn't get sent back down. Also Basseo will definitely become the #1 prospect sometime in 2025. Even the 4th best prospect Heston Kjerstad is ranked 20th

Madness. Never going to happen. Baltimore is never going to give up Holliday, Mayo and Basallo. The simple fact that you believe Skubal, who is in his FIRST good season of pitching with two major elbow injuries under his belt(one more could be the end of his career), is worth all three of those players when he won’t be worth one of them in 2-3 years just reinforces my belief that if a deal could have been done, it would be done already, but the stupidity of the front office in Detroit assuming they could get more for Skubal than Milwaukee got for Burnes has obviously prevented a deal from being done. Enjoy Skubal, enjoy the cellar in the central with the Sox and don’t forget to comment 2 years from now admitting how badly you wish Detroit traded Skubal for Holliday straight up this year as Holliday competes for MVP votes and Skubal competes in rehab starts.
