Hey man nice video. I have a 2019 Max as well and love it. I’ve also played around with putting a 750 bag on it and got a nice wave. I laid mine across the floor in front of the rear sliding seat. Wave wasn’t quite as nice as yours. I noticed you had your surf plate at 100%. Generally the more plate you have in the water the more if lifts that side of the boat out of the water and negates the ballast. Most people try to use as less plate as required to clean up the wave. Any time I tried 100% the wave just looked frothy. Interesting though and I’m going to try your settings mans 85% ballast on non-surf side like you did and see what I get. Thanks for posting your video. Need more Max videos out there. I have a few on my channel as well.

Awesome man! Yeah when it’s just me and my wife, I typically only run 85% on the off side! I also use my smartplate on 0. Also I don’t like using auto wake cause it drains my ballast! I’ll post more videos hopefully I can get to the lake this weekend and shoot another.

I’m not sure if it’s different with a couple year newer model, but our 2020 Helix throws a HUGE and clean wave just with stock ballast and the surf system on the boat. Only thing I would possibly be interested to see if it helps you at all, is filling all ballast bags full to 100%. I thought off side should be a little less as well at first, but our dealer was told by the Moomba rep they recommend throwing all the ballast in as it gives the best wave, and helps obviously if you have people surfing on both sides of the boat. My old ‘05 xstar has issues finding a great wake for surfing as well and I now know the problem was I just wasn’t properly weighting the boat for it to create a decent surf wave. Cheers!

Aaron Sykes thanks man! With the max it’s such a big boat and from factory with the 2018 the ballast just aren’t enough! I have it set perfect now it’s was just trial and error! I run 100 100 100 with a 750 pound fat sac in the middle of the boat and the wave is nice now

Xav Wynn awesome video man! What settings do you have the wake plate and surf plate set to?
@xavwynn5684 жыл бұрын
@@1siknessss I always run the wakeplate on 0 and usually the surf tab is on 85! Extra ballast goes a long way in the moombas

Lake Keowee? We've got a place right there in Morrison's campground. Just looked at a Max today and seriously considering pulling the trigger. Have a 2017 Starcraft SCX 231 surf now, it has the reverse volvo drive, great boat layout and efficient, but just can't get the wave we are looking for. It was good starting boat for surfing and has a decent wave, but we are ready to take it to the next level.

@@xavwynn568 Appreciate that man. Doing a demo tomorrow here in Atlanta...it's not going to be warm, but I'm still excited to get in the water and play on the wave.

Any tips on doing it without the extra bag? We usually rent at the nearby lake and they only have Moombas, and I honestly haven't gotten a good wave out of like 4 different times that we've gone. Whether I try and set it up manually or use the auto-wake it never is a very good wave.
@xavwynn5684 жыл бұрын
Cameron Kelson I agree man the wave on the moombas aren’t the best! I don’t use auto wake to surf. Put the ballast in the back right and left on 100 try putting the middle on 80! If you have extra people on the boat put them on the side you surf on! Put the wake plate on 0 and try at 10.4 mph! It’s all trial and error! If that doesn’t work I’ll send you some more setups this weekend when I go out and surf myself

So what is the actual weight set at? Like how much in total and where? Thanks in advance
@xavwynn5684 жыл бұрын
So On the max you have two 1000 lb bags in each rear locker so that’s 2000 lbs in total in the rear. There is also a 1000 lb bag in the middle of the boat. So 3000 lbs in total. So with extra bag makes it 3750 lbs! I put 1750 on surf side 850 opposite of surf side and 1000 middle! P.s that was for this video I have learned that if you place the bag in the middle of the floor you get the same result. Just a pain trying to maneuver through the boat with a big bag in the way!!

Thinking about getting a MM. Anything you don't like?
@xavwynn5684 жыл бұрын
BTUFF if you haven’t already purchased it DONT! If you enjoy surfing stay away from moomba! I lobe my boat but the wave on the 2018 is 6/10
