And mess with it more than just wash at it says in the video. Even mess with the height that you kick your front foot to, a lot of people kick at the ground too much but kick a little more into the air. Up for lack of better words

I know exactly what you mean about flipping the board too fast and having it bounce off your foot. It’s so frustrating for me because flipping the board fast feels cool and it seems like I did everything right only to stumble at the finish. Great advice Mitchie you’re the goat

Great video. Never thought about having my front foot square with the board. Also wanted to add, the position of the back foot is also key because the ball of the back foot needs to be in the middle or toes near the top edge like a tre flip position. You get a better pop and can flick it faster and harder with your back foot that way.

I gave this a try today and if I’m understanding it correctly, it helped a lot! Seems to give a lot more power and snap to the pop. I shifted my back foot more towards the edge of the tail and the toeside and hung a bit of my toes off so it felt like I was grabbing the edge like a tre.
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 10 ай бұрын
nice. Id be careful actually hanging it off the edge at that will want to start rotating your board backside like a tre flip. but otherwise it sounds like absolutely great and im happy it's helping!@@jeffli480

@@jeffli480 That's great to hear Jeff. I got info from Braille skateboardings kickflip video. When you put your toes near the edge it makes you pop the board unevenly resulting in more board surface tension for your front foot to flick against, resulting in a faster kickflip. Thats why having your toes near the bottom edge of the tail doesn't work (For me at least)

the last position/flick you showed is identical to my current kickflips. and while i have nice kickflips, when i skate gaps/drops or have lots of speed, my flick happens too quick for my feet to do anything reliably. gonna try this in the spring once the snow is gone. i’ve been trying to flatten my foot a bit more, but i should probably reevaluate my entire flicking motion too
@SKATEiQ
@SKATEiQ 10 ай бұрын
speed, gaps, and drops will probably affect fear more than anything. it will feel like everything is in slow motion because of the adrenaline so make sure that when youre sgoing fast or down things you take that extra moment to really lock in that flick in the air

I really struggled with the flick slow-down for the longest time. I'd always mob out my kickflips as a result. What fixed it for me was slowing down my pop. Once I learned to pop slower but more efficiently, I could suddenly go into "bullet time" with my flicks. The human body finds weird ways to equilibrate itself.

This video is great and it’s helped me better understand how to break down this trick, however I serious problem with flicking down. I can land kickflips, especially out of banks but my back foot is always higher and I feel my knee doing some of the flick. I’ve always wanted good kickflips but nothing has helped me break the habit. Really hoping you can help. Also I don’t have this problem with heel flips for some reason.

I agree! would love to see this. I really think I've found my sweet spot when I started trying to Olie North. Meaning my foot was going more straight ahead then to the side, and I think I also slowed down the time of when I wanted to flick (maybe naturally, because my foot had to travel further to the end of the tail rather than the side of the board).
