Whao in 2012 a base liner like Donald Young could really volley and play the net ; so in 2023, why cant 90 % of todays back court players do the same ???

Because today's tennis is mainly hitting down the middle and waiting for an error, or if you're alcaraz you just dropshot people until they submit. Tennis died when Rog retired.
