The way to honor Jonghyun's memory is to watch him in everything he did throughout his career and to react to his music and listen to his songs. So, go ahead and react to as much SHINee content, and even Jonghyun's solo work, as you can. It's OK if it makes us a little emotional sometimes, but the way to get to know him and SHINee better is to really spend some time getting to know them as the amazing performers that they are. All Jonghyun ever wanted was to make people happy through his work and to influence the world with his songs and lyrics. So, honor him by discovering what an amazing person he was and seeing exactly what he wanted people to remember him for. Yes, it's sad, but you don't necessarily have to make it that way if you just appreciate his work for what it is and live in the moment. His final words to the world were "Tell me I did Well." And that is what we fans try to do. By continuing to watch and listen to his and SHINee's music and appreciating the hundreds of clips of him we are lucky enough to have with SHINee as a group of 5, we are showing Jonghyun that, yes indeed, you did well and your life will forever be meaningful to thousands of people. You will never be forgotten Jonghyun, you did well.

"Sherlock" is a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's album "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title says "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when you watch the MV the 2 songs are combined to create "Sherlock". SHINee debuted in 2008 and "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" came out in 2012, so SHINee had been around for almost 4 years and Taemin is 17 in "Sherlock." You might feel like Taemin's singing style is different here, but that's in part because he is still growing and maturing and his voice is evolving. However, one thing you have to take into account is the fact that Taemin's style as a member of SHINee is different than his style as a solo artist. As a member of the group, his voice is meant to blend with the rest of the members, but, as a solo artist his voice has no one to compete with or rely on so he has learned to cover a more full range, etc. Taemin didn't debut as a solo artist until 2014. The choreography for "Sherlock" was created by Tony Testa, a very well-known "Hollywood"-famous American choreographer who has also worked with some of the most famous artists, productions and dancers in the world, including Michael Jackson. "Sherlock" was the first time SM (or pretty much anyone in the Kpop industry) had ever used a famous choreographer, and at the time, it was the most expensive Kpop production ever. Once again, SHINee were trendsetters and because of SHINee's skill level, SM became one of the first to see the value in using a well-known choreographer to help create their dances and to strive for a level of choreography and video production that surpassed anything that had ever been done before. Today it's common place for Kpop companies to have really famous in-house choreographers, and to seek out people in the industry who are really making a name for themselves to choreograph for them, but SHINee was one of the first. There is a dance practice video for "Sherlock." One of the very first Kpop dance practice videos was from SHINee for their song "Lucifer" in 2010. So several of SHINee's songs that came out after 2010 have dance practice videos. In the "Sherlock (Clue and Note)" MV the boys are Sherlock-like detectives who are looking for clues in the spooky mansion. If you watch the regular MV, you will see that there is a "ghost" girl -- who is played by Jessica Jung, the former member of Girls Generation, which is SHINee's senior sister group, also under SM Entertainment -- who helps SHINee solve a mystery by leaving them clues. At the end they realize that the girl they have been seeing and chasing after all day is actually the girl that was originally involved in the mystery when they find an article talking about her from many many years ago and they discover that they must have been seeing a ghost. This was the era of Taemin with long hair. Although, in the MV, Taemin's really long hair was a wig. If you watch the regular MV you will see that he only has long straight hair during the dance breaks, but during the story sections (and as you see during the dance practice) his hair is much shorter and kind of curly. However, he really did grow his hair long for a while. Taemin with long hair is one of his most iconic looks and many in the fandom were really sad when he cut his hair. I didn't really like Taemin's wig look, but Taemin with naturally long hair is one of my favorites. Many people thing that Taemin with long hair made him look pretty like a girl, but I actually thing it's kind of a masculine look on him. It also made him one of the most popular of the members with their Japanese fans. The Japanese culture really embraces men with long hair and this was the era of when SHINee really started to solidify themselves as Japanese artists, so Taemin's look had Japanese fans gravitating to them.

As a Shawol, I am so grateful that you reated to this and I completely understand what you might have felt while taking this reaction on. Time and again, I have mentioned this here that what you do is just some great work and thank you for all your sincerity, Jeff. I just want to say this here that I really want everyone to please understand that even though Jjong Oppa's name has become somewhat of a torchbearer for the topic of mental health in the K-pop community and even I want to support and protect the artists who are facing the same thing as him, I really want his name to be associated more with the work he has left behind for us to cherish. Please keep his memory alive as not just someone who suffered but as the artist that he deserves to known as. He was the first artist in SM to have full creative power for his album. He composed so many beautiful songs and there is so much to cherish him for. Let's remember the Jonghyun that was happy to see Shawols; the one who became a source of strenght for us. (If I said anything wrong, please feel free to correct me. I am just your little sister here.) Jeff, this is my request as a hardcore Shawol, please please please react to SHINee- Everybody(Tokyo Dome concert version) and SHINee- Excuse Me Miss.

SHINee are actually the group that got me into Kpop! The first ever Kpop song I heard was their song Lucifer. After that I just fell in love with them. SHINee has a special place in my heart because of that and I will forever remain a proud Shawol of a fantastic group of men❤️I’m so happy to see their legacy still thriving. Also! Key’s tone sounds different because he’s actually a Baritone! His vocal type is VERY rare in Kpop vocalists. But despite him being a Baritone, he can hit insane high notes. We stan an inhuman vocal range.

Same! I saw an article from a famous magazine in my country that was directed to teen girls, and there was a KPOP dedicated part, in which they showed pics of some MV´s and general information about them. The first one I read about was SHINee and the Lucifer track. I thought that that was an interesting name for a song and was kinda scare to watch it but did it at the end haha, I loved them since. (This was back in 2012). Jjong was my bias from the start and SHINee will forever have a special place in my heart and I will continue to support them. Its almost 12 years from the debut! I loved your reaction and I understand about you feeling uncomfortable and cautious. If you voice your thoughts on something there will always be people who will be against it. I am more into honesty. I mean obviously I love to hear good things about our boys. But I don't want people to look at SHINee as a sad group who needs validation from them to make them feel better. A reaction where people talk about dancing, singing, performance in all is much more satisfying than people who do fake reactions for views. That's why I like your reaction cause you talk about all that. Plus I too think Jjong and Chen's voices and singing ways are kinda similar. 😊 Will take the anime thing as a compliment. 😂

Jeff Avenue I think it’s fine to react to SHINee’s music and performances. His life’s work should be enjoyed and not swept under the rug. The sad thing about being an idol is when their every action and spoken word is scrutinized by the public. Kpop idols in particular seem to have a much harder time being forgiven for being human and making mistakes, even the very minor ones. If Western artists were held to the same standard, there would be a lot less of them still working in the entertainment industry.

By the way a lot of the members have done musicals. Onew also did Opera. Jonghyun is* my favorite member from SHINee and it was so hard listening to music (his music especially) when it happened but in the end we (fans) want him to be remembered for his music and his talent not what happened to him. * I mean he is my favorite member because despite his absence he really lives in through his music. Just to clarify that sentence. I’m thankful that you decided to react to SHINee and that you opened up about your thoughts. Being a performer sounds so exhausting thank you for the art you guys (artists) create 🙏🏼 Also: this is a live version of Sherlock (it’s so amazing) even if you don’t react to it I hope you watch it because it’s incredible: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2XTeoGXnaeiiLs

@@JeffAvenue Yes you can say like that, actually is very rare someone that understand music don't appreciated SHINee, some songs maybe isn't your cup of tea but at least you can notice how talent they are how powerfull their voces are, each of them are different and powerfull in solo but when they are together they really shine, you can see they don't fight for spotlight they push the other to light, I don't know if I made undersatand my English is not good. You know ,once a reporter said that he never see in this industry someone give to other to shine, but when he ask to Jonghyun about the song he did for SHINee he explain why each member have that part ,because he knows their voices and because of that he was able to give to them what was best for their vocals, I think the reason SHINee still exist today apart of their amazing talent is because all of them put SHINee in first, for them SHINee and Shawols come first.

Alright, this is my first comment and will be long. Might be weird specially since I've been silently following your videos for a while now but I need to put this out. As a Shawol (the fandom name of SHINee) I highly prise you for doing this. For years now there's been two options for people when it comes to SHINee. Some of them have been hesitating on reacting or even referring to them when cause they don't wanna be disrespectful. The majority tho, and sadly, took the second option of referring to the group and making sure what happened was highlighted or centered as the only thing that matters in order to get attention or whatever. Kpop used to be different years ago and just a few of the previous generations' groups keep working as hard and faithful to themselves in other to keep their dream a living truth. SHINee decided to do exactly that, get themselves together, stand up and give honor to Jonghyun by doing what he wanted to for them. But I keep feeling that this kind of thoughts restrict their light among a now forth generation that grows mainly cause of youtube and communities sharing and creating content of them. I'm tired of people referring to it as if the end would be more important than the whole journey. I want people to set their minds out of the bloom and actually accompany SHINee into a new path. SHINee as a group and every single member deserve to have brave people out there that brake the silence and rub their talent on all our faces again. No fears attached, no side intentions but enjoying a great SHINee performance freely. Thank you so much for doing exactly that. With all that said. A couple of fanfacts. Before Lucifer, kpop groups' dance and choreographies where not meant to be powerful or stunning. They set a new spotlight for dance. AND Sherlock was choreographed by Tony Testa and remians as one of the most highly invested comebacks for SM. You're doing a great job, keep it up.

It makes me happy when people react to SHINee still because Jonghyun would have been devastated to think his passing would make people look at his group differently. He loved being in SHINee so much and I think it was the main reason he managed to keep going for as long as he did despite how hard he was having to battle against depression. For other suggestions, I think my favorite dance practice is the one for ‘everybody’. Their live performances are also incredible and definitely worth a watch, especially any from their Tokyo dome concerts.

That's SHINee for you, pure greatness. And pretty much no one will argue with you on that fact. LOL :D SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. As I often tell people, once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. I can tell who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with my eyes closed with them standing in a crowd of people. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of their's. And that is also why they are known as one of the group with the best harmonies. Their perfect 5 part harmony is one thing they are known for. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop". BTW, did you notice that "Your Number" was one of SHINee's Japanese songs? So they are actually singing in Japanese. SHINee are some of the most popular artists in Japan, even more popular than a lot of Japanese artists. Most Japanese people don't even consider them foreign artists. SHINee spends about 50% of their career promoting in Japan. So they are all fluent in Japanese.

I can't help but smile when you say that Taemin's sound is so different now. That's his personal style that he mainly uses for SHINee songs. All the members of SHINee have this was of changing their personal styles up when they are performing as a group so they still maintain a distinct sense of individuality while also blending so well as a team. They are so different outside of the group but as a group, they are an impeccable collection of teammates. They are actually known for not overpowering each other and being a seamless unit!

I mean, this quarantine got our sleeping schedules messed up haha. Anyways, let me first say that I'm so happy you decided to react to them and I totally understand why you were hesitant at first. But the thing is, we don't want shinee to be pitied or to only be remembered as "that group" bcuz of the tragedy. Instead, let me tell you how AMAZING of a person/musician Jjong was. He wrote and produced a bunch of songs for other idols. When Taemin asked him to give him one of his songs "Already" he gave it to him in a heartbeat and in fact told him if he had told him from the beginning that he wanted it he would've altered it to make it fit within Taemin's vocal range. He also wrote a song with taemin called "Pretty boy" in which he sings with Kai from EXO replying to haters who used to call Taemin feminine because of his looks and hair, he used to tell him to be proud and embrace himself. He was Baekhyun and Chen's vocal trainer at some point. Shinee was SM's treasure and they've achieved so much that even President Obama loves them. Sorry for the long comment, I hope I didn't bother. Thank you for all of your hard work Jeff!

honestly, I'm so grateful to you for the way you did your reaction. I personally do not mind if people react to SHINee after what happen because I want more people to listen to their music and discover the amazing world of SHINee as well as their solo music. What I don't like is when reactors go on half a video saying "omg rip jonghyun the voice we lost uwu uwu" like we know believe us we know! I'm not going to watch a reaction for them to remind me of what happened I'm going to watch it because I want to see what they have to say about a group that I admire and love. So I thank you for doing that for giving your professional view on two of my favorite choreo of them and also for sharing a part of your journey which is similar to the journey our jjong went through to become an artist. I hope you react to more SHINee in the future or to some of the solo stuff each member has done ^^

The truth is that SHINee have been teh trendsetters from debut. Where SHINee goes, everyone follows, no joke. I highly recommend their dance practices! And as you watch SHINee, you'll understand Taemin better, too. All members are soloists, btw! And honestly, SHINee are much better live - they're called CDnee for a reason... One more thing: please take care of yourself, too. We all feel for our Moon Prince, and he was always open and supportive of people's feelings. Hi, Jeff! I understand and respect your reasons behind not wanting to react to SHINee sooner and it wouldn't be fair for you to do something you're uncomfortable with (it really resonated with me when you highlighted that fact how lonely the industry is, despite outer appearances). However, since you've reflected upon and changed your decision, I want to share how this video made me feel. I became a fan of your channel mainly because of your NCT reactions, however, I've been a long time Shawol even before I was a Czennie. In general, it's become more rare to see SHINee reaction videos for reasons that include (but are not limited to) respecting what happened with Jonghyun, and their inactivity as a group/not releasing anything new lately (mandatory enlistment for Onew, Key, and Minho). So, it personally makes me so happy to know that people like you allow SHINee's music to live on for the people that hold these songs close to their hearts and want to celebrate SHINee's legacy! Additionally, it's also a really great way to show (newer) fans of, for example, Taemin if they found him through SuperM what kind of a performing history he comes from. Thank you 💙
