Some ppl in the comment maybe kind of forgetting that Ten started with Breaking(bboy), Hiphop and was about to go to HHI(Hiphop int. Competition) in usa with his teacher's team when i was only 13-14 years old(but he decided to come to SM first so he didn't go with them), its not that Ten just added this style after working with some choreographers teachers lately. He was also into strong and powerful hiphop and popping dance too and( also locking if you check his old dance videos before him entering sm) But at the same time he also has that fluid elegrance delicate moves since he practiced those flexible from gymnastics and basic ballet when he was little but everything just get better and better from his practicing nonstop And also because of the knee surgery that makes him focused on fluid than using too much strength on his legs(and he also said that he tries not to use too much legs) but we can see that he can't at the end Ten is still put all the energy in every part of his body and his moves. And to be able to do all these things TEN must have a lot of diligence A lot of patience required, must be very disciplined, and it takes a lot of courageand and confidence. Including having the respect to himself a lot.

This is why I think that even if there are incredible dancers in NCT like Taeyong, and Shotaro nobody is able to create and tell a story with just their body quite like TEN can. It’s not just his technique it’s how artistically connected he his to what he wants to portray with the dance.

Ten did bboying when he was younger and competed... if you watch Ten fancams of the SM Rookies show performance of Switch, you'll see his bboy dance break. I think he's wearing a knee brace... it's only on the one knee and he's on the uncovered knee often.
@artistblue182 жыл бұрын
He might just be wearing only one knee pad or brace because that probably is the knee he got surgery on for a chronic injury in 2017

This is something that you can check out on your own time. While Ten was on great dance crew in China earlier this year as a Mentor/Leader he did a great job of showing that he's not only an amazing dancer but also an amazing choreographer and teacher. He talked about and showed the contestants how to feel the music as they're dancing, how to tell a story through your dancing, where to hit hard and when to stay loose etc or where to be soft when executing certain dance moves. He even performed on the show. It's funny because their were a few people who were fans of WayV and Ten before they auditioned for the show but the majority of them weren't aware of who Ten was because WayV are not that popular in China just yet but why the end of the show they all loved him and they all admired his dancing, they were in awe of performer Ten Lee. Ten has mastered many different genres of dance and he started learning before he even started training to be an idol. He is a dancer dancer not just an idol dancer and he said recently that his focus now a days rather than learning new genres of dancing is mixing different genres of dance together instead. He also said he focuses the little things in his dancing rather than big movements. Ten is amazing and he deserves more recognition for his skills.

Generally speaking, I feel like the public perception of Ten's dance style has been 180 degree of what it actually was. Since these past few years he has been showing fluid lines which set him apart from Hiphop-based dance style in usual KPOP, people tend to assume that his initial training were in contemporary, jazz or even ballet - which is not the case at all. He actually just tried out those style of dancing after he came to Korea. For what we've known, he was trained as a gymnast as a child. Afterward, when he started learning dance, it was mostly BBoy and hiphop. There are several pre-debut pictures showing him doing B-Boy handstand move when he's prolly 14-15. So, heavy hiphop is not new to him. He's been dancing and perfecting the craft from the very start. What actually new to him are comtemporary, modern, jazz and lyrical and traditional dance (see his duo performance on GDC) but he just executes everything oh so perfectly people tend to forget his origin.

I don't think the whole choreo for this was just because he met Bada. We all know that they knew each other even before some of Ten's solo work. But what I think is, GREAT DANCE CREW influenced him to do those kind of styles. He encountered a lot of dancers who specialized in different styles back in China last year (Waacking, Popping, Jazz, Hiphop, Modern, Street, Dancehall etc.) so I think that influenced him to do this. Thanks for this reaction! Love how you analyze especially including his artistry.

"There's a line between just great dancing and artistry." I completely agree with you 100%. A lot of kpop idols are GREAT dancers. Amazing technique and body control. But I feel like there's sometimes a disconnect between their dancing and their emotions. And I don't blame them because some kpop songs don't really set that emotional tone. But a lot of idols focus on EXECUTING MOVES rather than EXPRESSING THE MUSIC. And Ten has both, the skill/technique and the expression/emotion.

I was so sad when I saw you had already filmed the MV + GDC dance practice reaction before the actual dance practice video came out. I would have understood if you didn't film a separate video because obviously editing is so much work and you probably had a few reactions already scheduled to be filmed. I really appreciate that you made a separate reaction video for the dance practice because unfortunately the MV edited out a lot of the breaking/b-boy dance moves that Ten did. Thanks for this reaction!

I was wondering if you're going to react to this video after you already had your reaction. I really enjoy it! You explain explain them intelligently! Ten already had the feeling or the emotion early on in his career which was seen in Hit The Stage 3 months after his debut. I wonder if Bada is already around that time?! They made choreography together it seems throughout his IG posts. What I love the most is the Bada and the other choreographer made it perfectly for Ten which was said only Ten can do.

Ten is great at expressing the music thru his dancing and he's flexible as heck (think it was program called Hit or burn the stage, he done moves that would have broken someone else) I like to rewatch these dance practice videos, coz afterwards I wanna see who of the backing dancers stands out (coz u want them to be good and not feel they prob got picked due to big IG/Yt following) - in this one I think the blonde girl with more cropped top on - seemed to have more finish to the moves - shes on Ten's left at the end

I do agree with what you said about Ten's style kind of evolving after he met Bada. Because Bada specializes in more hard-hitting hiphop choreography, lots of isolations, popping & locking. Ten has bit more fluidity and softness in his movements compared to her. And the way they worked together to combine both of their techniques resulted in this amazing free-flowing hard-hitting work of art. The dynamics of this choreo is insane. The way Ten would execute strong sharp movements one second, and then slow down and do more sexy sensual moves the next. Also, I would like to add that they had another choreographer on this track, JRick, and he choreographed a lot of the break-dancing parts of the song, one of Ten's unique specialties.
