Thank you! I learned a lot here! I also bought a SG165 and didn't know how to use it. This is a great practical tutorial on alignment that I have seen so far. I have not done one yet and going to perform my first alignment surgery on a Silvertone tube unit in the next few days/weeks. Thanks again.

I am glad to see you made this video and put that SG165 to work! You did a great job and learned a lot in the process. The more alignments you do the better you get at it. Fixing the broken trimmer capacitor and getting that one working again was impressive. If you really want to get serious, at some point you need to pick up a distortion meter for proper discriminator alignments. I highly recommend the Keithley 2015 THD multimeter. It is pricey, but it is a great piece of equipment to have on your bench. A Leader LMD-170 or LMD-171 will also get the job done. Keep up the good work! FM radio can be great sounding.

Love watching your videos. Very relaxing. RMS measuring at the end is always the most fun part when you fix the receiver.

Aidan- you certainly are thorough. Well documented and edited. I have to say, I bailed at 58 minutes. I learned a lot in that time. Thanks

Lots of work and lots of filming😊 My hats off to you for including all these receivers in one video(I get why I think, set up and repetition). Those plastic alignment tools used to be sold by the dozen🤨 Anyway, it was a great video watching you use the oscope and Sencor aligning the receivers. Thanks for the work and cameo of the kitty. See ya next time.

Hi, do you ever sell your repaired items?

you should repeat the steps of tuning 90 then 106 because it'll allow you to drag 106 to the correct position

Hey AH-Fix-it. I have a question about my pioneer SX-737 protection board. I was getting no relay click when power on, but when i remove the 2SA733 transistor the relay click in, and when i replace the A733 whit the A992 transistor i get no click, so do you have any idea of what could be the problem?.

Does anyone know what a KR 9600 is or what brand? My grandma recently passed within the past year and she still had it in her possession my grandfather's receiver with something like a JBL paragon hooked up to it. It has sat in the garage for years collecting dust and finally I just went ahead and donated it to Goodwill.

Is FM really still a thing in the US? Here in Europe FM is slowly disappearing and being replaced by DAB ...
@rupertthomson4 ай бұрын
The audio quality is usually better on FM here in Britain. A lot of the commercial stations on DAB sound really bad. They'd rather squeeze more stations in to a multiplex with worse sound quality than fewer stations and better sound quality. BBC Radio 3 on FM is superb, not compressed, sounds lovely.

FM is very much so still a thing in the US. I listen every day for my commute and it is always playing in my workplace.

Refuge teenager from 1970's and Digital FM Tuners SUCK, sound like a tin can compared to 1970's analog. Unfortunately, pretty much all FM stations SUCK these days with new blood cheaper D.J.s and lack of New music which was not an issue in 1970's. I am luck to have a commercial free Jazz station Broadcasting from a College University and in all probability will never go away, been around for over 40 yrs and the College is famous for turning out Jazz musicians. Have 24 FM Tuners, need any business. Some of which are Marantz 120b, Kenwood KT 9900, Pioneer TX 9500 MK II.
