Thanks for the video, Sarah. The first time I heard the word accord was when my mum used to speak of the Bon accord man!

There's a Bon Accord fizzy drinks company in Edinburgh. I think it's new though. Are they related?

@SarahMcCartney4160 I asked my mum, you're right, Bon Accord was a brand of soft drinks, and the Bon Accord man went round delivering bottles of pop, in the same sort of way as the milk man. Must be a regional things around central belt of Scotland. They stopped soon after my mum turned a teenager. It might be that they started up again recently to be all retro!

my thoughts the accord like a men suit every time change the tie shoes and shirts will give new different look So from 1 accord you can make 3 different perfumes just we change a few materials each time .. thanks for the great information 👍🏼

Great distinction between an accord and a base! Your "horrid" accord however intrigues me. 🤔😄😱

@justaddlight I'll have to make one... It would by definition be a discord!

I’ve heard differing opinions on using bases and am curious on your thoughts; some people are concerned with them having the potential to disappear, and then being SOL and needing to reformulate if they’ve used it in a finished perfume. Is that a valid concern/something you think about at all? And I suppose this might only be a real possibility with a smaller supplier that provides bases, rather that one of the big boss companies (i.e. Givaudan)?
@SarahMcCartney416012 күн бұрын
I genuinely don't understand the concern about bases disappearing. The same can happen with a natural or a synthetic being discontinued. I can no longer get two CO2 extracts I was using and I'm going to have to discontinue a bunch of fragrances. Life goes on. I'll create some more. Compared to the other issues life throws at us, I can't get overly concerned about it.

@@SarahMcCartney4160 Love that attitude, it's all about perspective 😄 That's unfortunate about your extracts, but good to know not to get too attached to anything!

What is the difference between an Accord, and a finished Perfume? Any good Perfume is a good Accord?
@SarahMcCartney416014 күн бұрын
@photographedemode I suppose we could see a perfume as the ultimate accord, but an accord would generally be one part of a perfume, not the whole thing. Like a chord is one part of a whole song perhaps.

Don't bases make the launch of a perfume a lot more complicated since you don't fully know what's in there?
@SarahMcCartney416013 күн бұрын
@adryancavar7515 No because they come with complete SDSs and IFRA certificates so ww can put all the data into our software and calculate what we need. They are no more complicated than launching a perfume using naturals and a lot more consistent.

Accord it come from Accordo ( italian/Latin) so please the half of english is Latin also French
@SarahMcCartney41602 күн бұрын
@daste363 Absolutely the root of the word does, and if you like you can probably trace it back to Sanscrit, but that's missing the point. The perfumery use of the word is from the French. In English we talk about accords, using the French word. That's the relevance here.
