Thanks Mr. P. and to Remi. I really feel so fortunate to have discovered your channel. The first episode and this one have opened my eyes to the groundwork and challenges happening behind the scenes before a bottle of perfume gets to us consumers. Really appreciate this.

Fascinating interview! I really appreciate that Rémi talks about the ethical side of perfumery, which is not often discussed. He is doing some important work indeed! It makes me even more interested to dive into Les indémodables.

Such an enlightening discussion and like so many concerns around the world, the issues of big companies not doing enough to support growers and taking advantage of them is so depressing. Nice to see the likes of Remi endeavouring to make a difference. Also good to know why so many high street perfumes give me a headache.

I love that you and Remi dive into myriad aspects of fragrance/ingredient production, especially today's discussion on how Remi introduced us (well, definately myself i should say) to how important it is to support small family farmers who rely on growing patchouli (as in today's example) for their subsistence. I wish today's discussion extended for another hour. Like your last "class" on lavendar, I could easily have listened for another hour. Thank you both again for your tutelage. 😉

Very interesting once again, thanks both!! PS: I thought Bergamot E.O. wasn't that cheap because contrary to Orange E.O. it's not a byproduct of the juice industry... Some clarification on that point would be welcome!
@Persolaise2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Vincent. I’ll see if I can put the question to Remi.
@latelierfrancaisdesmatiere49922 жыл бұрын
Hello Vincent, correct bergamot juice is not used and the higher price is also reflecting to the poor yield ( cold pressed extraction) which is far below 1%!
@melipone2 жыл бұрын
Bonjour Remi, thanks a lot for your answer! So can you give us an approximate ratio beween the price of 1kg of Bergamot E.O. and 1kg of Orange E.O.?
@latelierfrancaisdesmatiere49922 жыл бұрын
@@melipone Bergamot oil will be in the range of 100 euros (depending on crop conditions and volumes contracted) and orange oil in the range of 10/20 euros (depending on the grade, origin, crop conditions and volumes at stake), Best regards

Love this Masterclass series, thank you so much! It’s very interesting, plus you are an exceptional interviewer. Would it be possible for you to make one playlist for all Masterclass videos, instead of creating separate playlists per year? It would be so convenient to have all masterclasses together in one playlist. 🙏🏼 Thanks again, fragrance love from the Netherlands! ~ Katja

Fantastic work. Thank you. You seemed to have no trouble telling the quality oils from the bargain bin ones, but it also seemed you weren’t floored by the differences. Are the differences barely perceptible?
@Persolaise2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. No, the differences are certainly very perceptible. But I guess my feeling was that both oils would offer something of value to the perfumer. That said, if I wanted to make a rich, layered, complex patchouli scent, there's no doubt which of the two I'd go for.

I would love to see Antoine Lie join in on these conversations ( please excuse my being very demanding) I had the same idea that there must be a place for the different qualities of oil in the palette of a perfumer. Yet I would like to know if a perfumer would not say that a high quality oil is always preferrable?

Let’s see if we can persuade Antoine to join us one of these days.
